AMWA Networking Alliance Teleseminar - Tasteful Self-Promotion  
AMWA's Networking Alliance presents another segment in its professional development series.  The teleseminar, Tasteful Self-Promotion, will provide useful information for women at all stages of their careers. Dr. Francine Gaillour is a healthcare technology leader, executive coach and consultant, and author of "Physician, Reinvent Thyself: A Transition Guide for Physicians Call  ed to Leadership and Non-Clinical Careers. Student Opportunities for Cancer Research

Do you know of high school or college students who have an interest in cancer research? The IU Simon Cancer Center's 2012 Summer Research Program pairs students with a mentor physician or researcher for nine weeks (May 31 to July 27). Additional information and an online application are available here.  Applications are due Feb. 17, 2012. 
Rx Outreach Offers Prescription Medication Help to the Uninsured and Underinsured

Rx Outreach, an independent non-profit mail order pharmacy, helps over 65,000 people get easy access to medicines they otherwise couldn't afford. Advancing Women's Health Initiative - Spring 2012 Meeting

An expert group will soon meet with the National Board of Medical Examiners in Philadelphia. They will complete the review and recommendation process of the sex and gender differences in medical exams to make sure they are adequately and appropriately covered. Learn more.

Help Make Cervical Cancer a Dinosaur

Join the Foundation for Women's Cancer's efforts to eliminate cervical cancer by asking all women to take just three steps: 1. Vaccinate early; 2. Pap test regularly; 3. Get an HPV test when recommended. Take the pledge here.

AMWA Congratulates Vivian Pinn MD on Her Retirement as Founding Director of NIH Office of Research on Women 

An AMWA member and 1995 recipient of AMWA's Elizabeth Blackwell Medal, Dr. Pinn recently retired from her post at NIH. During her 20 years of service, Dr. Pinn was pivotal in promoting gender-specific research and the inclusion of women and minorities in clinical trials.  She will be awarded the inaugural Bernadine Healy Award, to be presented at the 20th Annual Congress on Women's Health, March 16-18, 2012 in Washing, DC.

In Memoriam

AMWA member Gwendolyn Campbell Trudeau, MD, Chair of the Department of Anesthesia and Chair of the Medical Staff at Columbus, Ohio's St. Ann's Hospital, passed away on December 29, 2011.
