HHS Announces Plan to Reduce Health Disparities

The US Department of Health and Human Services announces a plan to reduce health disparities.  AMWA continues to work in this area through the Commission to End Health Disparities.  Read more here.

FDA Approves First 3-D Mammography Imaging System
The FDA approved the first 3-D mammography imaging system which may help physicians more accurately detect and diagnose breast cancer.  Click here for details.

Dr. Marlene Cutitar Named RIMWA 2011 Woman Physician of the Year 

Dr. Marlene Cutitar was named the Rhode Island Medical Women's Association 2011 Woman Physician of the Year.  Click here for details. 

In Memoriam - Dr. Willa Brown 

AMWA notes with sadness the passing of former AMWA leader Dr. Willa Brown.  Dr. Brown passed away on April 13th in Charlottesville, VA.  Dr. Brown was a former AMWA President-Elect, Region Director, DC State Director, Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on the AMWA Building and President of Branch I.  She was also involved in MWIA and was a CME lecturer.
