The GIF recently approved PACE loans for the following expansion projects
SpaceAge Synthetics Inc. is purchasing their existing building worth $2.5 million. SpaceAge Synthetics makes a product called Thermo-lite board. According to the company, the product is lightweight, structurally stable, and resistant to rot, contamination, acid and insects. The product is used to make flooring for boats, buses, trailers, ambulances and limos. Their customers include Malibu Boats, Fleetwood RV, and Bennington Marine.
Neal's Industrial Painting, Inc. (NIP) is completing a $1.2 million improvement project that includes the purchase of and improvements to their main facility, construction of an on-sight blast facility and numerous other equipment upgrades. These improvements will allow NIP to expand its service offerings and provide value-added services such as assembly, packaging and shipping logistics. NIP provides powder and liquid paint applications and sandblasting to customers in Eastern North Dakota and West Central Minnesota including, Bobcat, Crary, Gateway Building Systems, Phoenix International, Amity Technologies, FlexTM (formerly Robanks) Wil-Rich and numerous other local and regional customers.

Business attraction activity picks up first quarter
The GFMEDC was engaged in 7 new business prospects first quarter 2011. The GFMEDC provides customized information to help sell the region to new business prospects, hosts site visits and coordinates meetings with key contacts.

Million-dollar grant awarded to research start-up company founded by NDSU Professor
The National Institutes of Health recently awarded a two-year federal grant worth $1.08 million to Dr. Brian Slator, an NDSU Computer Science professor who founded WoWiWe (Wow-ee) Instruction Company. The company develops internet-based educational software. The multi-user web-based environment allows students to study complex biology through a virtual world where they can act like scientists and perform experiments using the scientific method. The products will target parents and high school students who want to better prepare for college-level science courses.
The company plans to move into the NDSU Research & Technology Park and will work to create seven educational software modules.
