VALIDATING APPROVAL THROUGH NMLS

The Office of the Commissioner of the Financial Regulation is continuing to work cooperatively with the mortgage industry to execute the transition to the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). We are aware of frustration from some licensees who have been notified that they are approved, but who have not yet received their printed license, or the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation's website is not showing an approval.  The delays in IT  processes, printing and mailing may create difficulties in processing transactions.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation and want to make licensees aware that the license status can be  validated on the NMLS directly.

 To do so:

  • Login into NMLS.
  • In the welcome screen, select the Tab in the upper right hand corner.
  • In the View Home screen, select View Individual in the blue header below the houses.
  • In the View Individual Information screen, select the View License/Registration List in the left navigation panel.
  • A list of the licenses filed along with their status will appear.

Alternatively, 24 hours after the regulator changes applicant's status to "approved" on NMLS, licensees, lenders, consumers and others may also validate the licensee's approval through the NMLS Consumer Access Portal.

If you have any questions you may contact Keisha Whitehall Wolfe, Director of Licensing at 410-230-6362.
