Greetings!

The first few months of 2011 have proved to be very busy for the Ethics Initiative staff. With a number of events and a new program coordinator, Liz Moore, its been an exciting couple of months. There are many more events and opportunities to come; stay tuned and read below for more details. As always, we appreciate those who have worked with us in making ethical behavior an important measure of success for our students.

Success of this program will depend on participation from the College of Business faculty and staff.  We invite you to share your suggestions, ask any questions and get involved.

The Conscious Capitalism Conference, held by the Center for Education on Social Responsibility (CESR), brought together students from multiple Colorado universities, including to interact with  innovative business people.  These business pioneers and conscious capitalists exposed UCCS students and staff to a new way of thinking in which businesses don't consider profits in isolation from integrity, higher standards, and serving all stakeholders. The Ethics Initiative sponsored the attendence of the following UCCS students; Zahra Behfar, Danielle Norris, Inga Lange, and Heather Smith.

The motto for the 2011 United States Air Force Academy, National Character and Leadership Symposium was "Strength Within, Leadership Throughout." It proved to be an amazing event which inspired critical thought about what it means to be a leader in today's world. The participants, Alyssa Buckley, Javier Alcaraz, Jeff Hourihan and Drew Johnson, along with Dr. Tracy Gonzalez-Padron, all attested to the high quality and thought provoking messages of the speakers, and gained insights which they will carry with them throughout their lives. If you are interested in the accounts of the participants, please email ethics@uccs.edu for more information.
