As many of you know, we are walking to help fight hunger and support the Gifts of Love food pantry on May 6 at the annual Walk Against Hunger. It is a 2.5 mile walk through Hartford's historic west end. Gifts of Love is currently serving almost 400 families each month and it takes A LOT of community support to do this!

I am asking my friends, family and Gifts of Love supporters for 2 things:

1. We would LOVE to have you, your friends and family (bring the kids!), any organizations you may belong to or your colleagues join the Gifts of Love team.  This is perfect for brownie troops, neighborhoods, church groups, civic organizations, businesses etc.

2.  If you are unable to walk with us, please consider donating to one of our walkers.  Our goal is to raise $10,000 to be used in the fight against hunger. Did you know that every $25 allows Gifts of Love to purchase $205 worth of food at Foodshare? Every dollar truly counts!

Together, let's stop hunger in our community.

Gifts of Love and the Farmington Valley Hunger Collaborative held 3 food drives in March at Fitzgeralds in Simsbury, Big Y in Avon and Stop and Shop in Unionville. Food was collected for Gifts of Love and the local food pantries in our community. The Farmington Valley Hunger Collaborative is comprised of the food pantries in Avon, Farmington, Canton and Simsbury,

members of Avon/Canton United, town Social Service Directors, clergy members, Foodshare and others interested in the issue of  hunger in the Farmington River Valley. We needed to partner with the local food pantries in order to better deliver services and additional support to those in need in the Valley.
