Comprehensive Arts Plan
-From SPS
Seattle Public Schools has partnered with the City of Seattle and community arts organizations, to create a comprehensive arts plan focused on increasing quality arts education access for all K-12 students. A vital part of this 18-month planning period is feedback from community stakeholders such as youth, parents, teachers, artists, and more.
Share your thoughts on arts education in the next two months:
Take this short survey to help SPS prioritize the order in which they implement the arts plan for the different arts disciplines. |

Rainier Beach High School Tours
Thursday, March 1st, School Tour 8-9:30am
Thursday, March 8th, School Tour 8-9:30am
Rainier Beach is a comprehensive high school with the smaller size that many parents prefer. This provides a more personalized education in which the staff can get to know students well - a key factor in student achievement. Rainier Beach has a Culinary Arts program, a Law Magnet program, and Informational Technology program which is part of SPS Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
Through the Advanced Placement classes, the arts and music classes, and the CTE classes, students work with a group of teachers over a period of time. Strong mentoring programs support incoming ninth-graders in the transition to high school. This continues until students graduate. We have created a climate in which all students feel a sense of belonging, and these efforts are paying off in improved student achievement - our shared goal for all of our students.
Rainier Beachis also applying to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The second phase of the application for the school is due on April 1, 2012. RBHS and SPS should know if the application is accepted by January 2013, with the program potentially starting in the fall of 2013. |
