Dear PTA and PTSA Leaders,
As many of you have very likely heard by now, Interim Superintendent Dr. Susan Enfield sent an email to all SPS families stating she will neither seek nor accept the role of permanent Superintendent. She will continue in the interim role until June 2012. In the meantime, the School Board will begin a search for a permanent Superintendent. We will keep you posted on the search as information becomes available.
This month, the School Board will vote on the Short Term Capacity Management Plan and the Transition Plan for 2012-13 for the New Student Assignment Plan. Both plans are scheduled to be introduced on Wednesday, January 4 and voted on January 18.
This past December, I had the pleasure of attending the SCPTSA's Reflections Art Exhibit at the Center School. I was amazed at the talent and creativity of our students. I'd like to give a big thanks to all of the PTA and PTSA Reflections Chairs for pulling this contest together at their local schools. I'd also like to thank SCPTSA VP of Enrichment, Diane Sandoval Onikubo, for leading this event on behalf of the Seattle Council PTSA. Thank you, Diane!
Have a great New Year!
Sincerely,
Lauren McGuire
President, Seattle Council PTSA |
