Dear PTA and PTSA Leaders,
The start of school is less than a month away, and folks at the district are working hard getting ready for the new school year. Next Tuesday, the Seattle Council PTSA is hosting its annual Parent Leader and Principal Breakfast at Ballard High School. Interim Superintendent, Dr. Susan Enfield, will present her vision for SPS for 2011-12. Afterwards, PTA/PTSA Presidents will discuss with their principals the vision for their schools.
The Seattle Alliance of Black School Educators (SABSE), SPS, and the Department of Education is hosting a Family Summit at Cleveland High on August 20. One of the main topics will be the Reauthorization of Elementary and Secondary School Act, also known as No Child Left Behind. Make sure your community knows about this important meeting. More details are below.
On an administrative note, please make sure a list of 2011-12 PTA Board members is sent to Melissa Anderson at the Washington State PTA. Her email address is manderson@wastatepta.org. The Washington State PTA keeps a master list of all PTA officers. The WSPTA sends important information and reminders about keeping in compliance with non-profit laws and the like.
I hope you are having a great summer.
Sincerely,
Lauren McGuire
President, Seattle Council PTSA |
