The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce has taken an active interest in Government Affairs for 2 reasons - you and the community. We have taken positions for and against items that we feel affect our community and your ability to do business in a profitable manner.
We are currently reviewing a 2012 Public Policy/Legislative Agenda for the upcoming legislative session. The agenda is "broad" in that there are not specific bills that are being addressed but more so generalized principles of where we feel we can be the most effective for our membership and our community. Such items are:
- Economic Development
- Energy
- Immigration
- Lawsuit Reform
- Taxation
- Transportation (Local, County and State)
- Water
- Workforce Development/Education
- Workers' Compensation
- Local
- County
If you have an active interest in any of the above mentioned principles, please do not hestitate contact us and provide us with your input. Again this agenda is under review and is subject to change.
If you would like to participate in the Government Affairs Committee, please contact us. Together - we can be that United Voice! |

OKC MSA
Newcastle is a part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitian Statistical Area. As a result some of our numbers can be derived from results in the OKC MSA.
An example would be that 41% of McClain County residents travel to Oklahoma County to work, while 15% of McClain County works come from Oklahoma County.
Also an example would be the traffic counts supplied by Oklahoma Department of Transportation, our numbers are the maps for the OKC Urban/MSA.
So when it comes to Cost of Living, our numbers relate. If you are earning $35,000.00 after tax in AK Anchorage, the comparable after-tax income you would need to earn in OK Oklahoma City in order to keep up the same standard of living and buying power is $24,518.86. Or if you are earning $35,000.00 after tax in TX Dallas, the comparable after-tax income you would need to earn in OK Oklahoma City in order to keep up the same standard of living and buying power is $33,811.04. |
