Another potential scam has been brought to our attention. If you receive a call from "Yellow Pages" wanting to send you a refund check for an ad - be forewarned that this could be a scam.
Process: Caller will ask you if you would like to receive a $500 refund for your ad. You say "yes" and they will send you to their billing department which wants to send you an invoice. If you question them, they will hang up and possibly call back wanting your confirmation number.
Scam potential: This could be setting you up for a bill that will not produce anything other than an expensive headache.
Portect yourself: Always ask for phone numbers and verifications of who is calling you. If you haven't placed an ad then you should be aware that this is a scam. Also, please make sure that your employees are informed of the potential scam, they may think they are helping you when they agree to receive the refund when actually they could be caught in the web of deceit.
