Business Exchange Luncheon
SNMay2011

What is it? Each participant is supplied with a list of possible questions, starters and topics to draw from.  The format allows for a lot of conversational flexibility. After five minutes elapses, participants move on to the new conversations, a new face and a new opportunity to make a connection.

The Object? Leave the event with an expanded web of business contacts, clients, customers, confidants, etc.

Your Obligation? Nothing but your time. No uncomfortable lunch dates. No glancing at the ceiling and wishing you were talking with someone else. NO AWKWARD SILENCES. With the Chamber behind maximizing the networking experience, your only focus will be on making new contacts and expanding your networking circle. Connect with people using an "elevator speech". Be sure to bring PLENTY of business cards!

Bring your Business Cards and

Elevator Speech about you and your business.

Your goal is to walk away with 6 new contacts.

**DEADLINE MAY 30th**
We have 23 spaces available!!!!

We still have space available on the upcoming production of the Community Map. Panels are sold out but business card sizes are still available. You have the option to increase the size should room allow.

The last production of our city map was in 2007 of 5,000 copies which lasted 3 years. This production is for 10,000 copies. THAT IS A HUGE RETURN on your investment. If you do a business card for $225, it would basically be $75 a year based on the earlier production of the maps.

Are your church or restaurant? We have a special sections dedicated to you!

In the restaurant guide, each listing will be by category and will include name, address, phone and hours of operation. We will also include breakfast, lunch or dinner, whatever is applicable.
All this for a cost of $150.00. That breaks down to a minimal of 3 years worth of promotion for $50 per year for one upfront investment.

In the church directory, each lilsting will be category and will include name, address, phone and Sunday and Wednesday services.
All this for a cost of $100.00. That breaks down to a minimal of 3 years worth of promotion for $34 per year for one upfront investment.

Of course, you do have the additional option of purchasing a larger space.

USCU.S. Chamber Conducts Small Business Outlook Survey

Last week the U.S. Chamber released the results of the Chamber's inaugural Small Business Outlook Survey-a nationwide survey of 900 small business owners.
According to the survey, 55% of respondents cited economic uncertainty as their greatest hiring obstacle, and 35% saiduncertainty in Washington D.C. impacted growth. Thirty-five percent cited too little revenue as their greatest obstacle. Seventy percent of respondents said they do not plan to hire new employees next year, and 9% will continue layoffs. Here are a few other notable results:

  • Two of the top issues of concern are America's debt and the health care law. Eighty percent of respondents said America's debt and deficit have a negative impact on their business, and 72% said the health care law has made hiring more difficult.
  • Small businesses want Washington to get out of the way. In a commanding majority, 79% of respondents said they want more certainty, and only 14% said they want more government assistance.

By a 73% to 17% margin, respondents said that the climate of the last two years has hindered their growth. Respondents were split in how they view the next two years, with 38% believing the climate will improve, 37% believing that it will worsen, and the remainder uncertain.
