Business Exchange Luncheon - July 20, 2010
Speaker/Topic: CANDIDATE FORUM/MEET AND GREET
Although all candidates seeking political office in 2010 have been invited to attend, only those local candidates who face opposition in the July 27 primary will be answering questions. Candidates for the office of District Judge and State Senate (Republican only drew opposition) will be answering questions. Federal and larger State offices are difficult to recruit attendance.
We will be coordinating additional forums/meet and greets after the primaries to attempt to cover the areas of interest for the November elections. State Questions are available online for review as well as candidates for office in our area.

Candidates have filed and we, as citizens, have an obligation to exercise our right to vote. The primary election will be on July 27th (general election is November 2nd), deadline to register to vote in the primary is July 2nd (general election deadline is October 8th). If you or someone you know has not registered to vote, your application still has time to be submitted but must be postmarked no later than July 2nd. Please note that there can not be any party changes made on the applications from June to August, per Marilyn McReynolds with the McClain County Election Board.
If you or someone you know would like to register, download an application here and forward to the Oklahoma State Election Board at PO Box 528800, Oklahoma City, OK 73152-8800.
Our goal is only to encourage citizens to register. We will be providing a list of candidates (all) with their contact information provided by the Oklahoma State Election Board as well as a list of state questions provided by a Legislative Brief from July 2009 titled: Issues to be referred to Oklahoma Voters for approval or rejection at the 2010 elections. Click here for more information.
We will be working on organizing Candidate Forums for citizen review. Please stay tuned as the information becomes confirmed. Each candidate will be invited and provided a survey to be returned to the chamber for posting to our website. All surveys will be posted as written. |

This Election Year -- It's About Jobs! The Prosperity Project: Your Resources for an Informed Workplace on Election Day
Nearly every Oklahoma voter is an employee, an employer, or a retiree. We must elect Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who know what it takes to keep Oklahoma competitive in the global marketplace and will grow our state.
Sponsored by The State Chamber of Oklahoma, the Prosperity Project is a partnership of nearly 1,400 leading businesses, trade associations, and local chambers of commerce dedicated to helping Oklahomans "vote smart" on Election Day.
Oklahoma's Prosperity Project is a nonpartisan, election education service. The Prosperity Project does not endorse candidates. It does not tell you how to vote. That important decision is up to you!
The Prosperity Project encourages every employee to:
-
-
Be informed. In June, use this site to find out who is running in your district for Congress and State Legislature. In July, we'll show you where these candidates say they stand on issues that affect Oklahoma's business climate and jobs.
This year, we'll also cover races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and other statewide contests.
-
Vote on Election Day.
Employers: Sign up for your Election Toolkits. We'll email you click-and-print voter registration and get-out-the-vote breakroom posters, email messaging, payroll stuffers, staff meeting talking points, and other useful tools keep your employees informed before Election Day.
These materials are provided free of charge, thanks to support from The State Chamber's Champion Investors. |
