SAD: A human emotion. Perhaps, one we might use to describe how we feel after all the unhealthy garbage we shovel into our bodies in a single day, a year, a lifetime. I'm talking about our Standard American Diet, another kind of SAD.
Potato chips, Soda Pop, Fries, Snack Cakes, Cookies, Candy, and for some, that's just breakfast. I know a woman who

started off her mornings with a slice of bologna, and a Dr. Pepper. Throw in cigarettes, donuts, fully loaded coffee drinks all day and alcohol before dinner, day in and day out, year after year until; and SADly, today she suffers from a laundry list of unpleasant symptoms that annoy and inhibit the quality of life she could be having - with a few small changes.
None of us want to believe that we will become a statistic for heart disease, stroke, diabetes or intestinal disorders, but the 'SAD' truth is that today over 40% of all Americans are considered obese. We have now raised an entire generation of kids that think that McDonalds is one of the 4 basic food groups. How SAD is that?
The good news is that so many now are waking up to the alarming truth of the bad habits we have developed over time in our daily lives. We are now choosing to go the natural, organic and holistic route. We're taking personal responsibility for our health, and setting higher expectations for achieving it. We know there are no magic pills and no-one is going to save us from ourselves, so we have to do this and we can. One of the easiest, cheapest and pain free ways to get started on your 'health journey', is simply to start surrounding yourself by people who are already on that journey. People that look and act alive and vibrant, who are involved in activities that are positive, supportive...lead by example. People who make water drinking and vegetable eating look cool. Don't be SAD anymore.
