Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) Project Directors' Conference

The Partnership will be prominent in the 2011 OSEP Project Directors' Conference that will take place July 18-20, 2011 in Washington, DC.

  • Bill East, NASDSE Executive Director and Joanne Cashman, IDEA Partnership Director, will moderate a panel on the Common Core State Standards Initiative: Standards, Curricula and Assessments.
  •  The Partnership will lead a discussion group on the impact of Cradle to College and Career on Special Education.
  • The Partnership will demonstrate the field-developed tools: Collections, Dialogue Guides and LearningPort

The full array of OSEP-supported projects will participate in the conference.  We will bring you highlights and resource links in the next edition of e-news.

This report describes the achievement gaps between Hispanic and white public school students at the national and state levels and how the gaps have changed.

 

Students with Disabilities at Degree-Granting Postsecondary Institutions

This report describes nationwide estimates on student enrollment, services and accommodations provided to students with disabilities at two- and four-year institutions of higher education for the 2008-09 academic year.

 

Crime, Violence, Discipline and Safety in U.S. Public Schools

According to this report, middle schools reported 40 incidents of violence per 1,000 students compared to 21 incidents per 1,000 students in both high schools and elementary schools in 2009-10.

 

Nation's Report Card: U.S. History 2010, Grades 4, 8 and 12

This report describes student achievement on the National Assessment of Educational Progress on the history exam for 2010. The exam was given to 4th, 8th and 12th graders.

This brief demonstrates that it is possible to insulate the education pipeline for older, vulnerable youth by providing the supports for their success. An analogy, the "insulated education pipeline, is used "to describe the kinds of kinds of partners that need to be mobilized and policy approaches that need to be enacted in order to significantly increase completion rates and help more young people successfully transition to adulthood."
