Visitors parking garage and Main Street will close in June for construction projects

This summer there will be movement on several significant construction/renovation projects that will impact UHD operations. The most disruptive will be the METRO expansion and the Academic Building parking expansion.

The initial work on the garage expansion project has already begun. The entire Visitors' Parking Lot will be taken out of use at 11p.m. Sunday, June 5, and relocated to the Faculty/Staff Garage. This project will be complete before the Spring 2012 semester, and will add approximately 100 faculty/staff parking spaces to the existing 50 visitors' spaces.

To accommodate the METRO light rail expansion, Main Street will be closed to all vehicle and bus traffic from Commerce Street on the south (from the bottom of the Main Street Bridge) to the edge of Naylor Street on the north (Naylor remains in service) effective Monday, June 20. This closure is expected to last approximately 18 months.

The Library Renovation-Phase II project is expected to be finished in early fall. Improvements include new carpet throughout, ceilings, restrooms, furniture, offices, relocated Rockwell Room and a new coffeehouse venue.
