Today and coming up at UHD.....
ARAMARK Food Services will open Starbucks and the Grillworks from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday during Spring Break.
University Bookstore will open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will close Friday for inventory during Spring Break.
University Copy Center will open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday during Spring Break.

UHD provides additional parking at San Jacinto Parking Lot
In response to student requests, UHD has arranged for additional downtown parking for UHD students, faculty and staff.
Additional parking is now available for students, faculty and staff at North San Jacinto Street and Allen Street. There are 84 parking spaces in the far northeast corner of the AMPCO Parking Lot set aside for UHD. Spaces reserved for UHD have the word "RESERVED" painted in each space. Parking Enforcement and the UHD Police patrol the lot to provide safety and security.
The shuttle bus service also picks-up and drops-off from this location. Shuttles run from the Daly Street Lot, to the One Main Building, to the Commerce Street Building, corner of Franklin Street and Fannin Street, to the San Jacinto Lot, to the Shea Street Building and back to the Daly Street Lot.
The UHD Police patrol streets and parking lots near the University 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

President Flores schedules Spring Budget Town Hall Meeting for March 30
President Bill Flores will hold a Spring Town Hall Budget Meeting from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in the Cullen Robertson Auditorium, third floor, Academic Building.
He will discuss UHD's budget and proposed reductions. All faculty and staff are invited to the Town Hall meeting.

Auxiliary service providers announce spring break hours
Please note the following hours of operation for the University of Houston- Downtown Auxiliary Service Providers during Spring Break March 14-19:
- ARAMARK Food Services will open Starbucks and the Grillworks from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- University Bookstore will open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will close Friday for inventory.
- University Copy Center will open 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Between 8 and 9 a.m., please enter through the side door near the north side freight elevator.
All Auxiliary Service Providers will resume normal operating hours on Monday, March 21.

Faculty Awards Committee announces Outstanding Adjunct, Lecturer finalists
The Faculty Awards Committee for the first time will recognize an Outstanding Adjunct Instructor and an Outstanding Lecturer. The finalists for these categories have been chosen. "If you know any of these finalists, please congratulate them and thank them for their contributions to UHD," said Lisa Morano, associate professor and chair of the awards committee. Winners will be announced at the Spring Awards Ceremony in April. Finalists are listed in alphabetical order. History students win state awards
UHD students Ronald Parker and Barbara Edgerton won awards in the senior division at the Texas State Historical Association meeting in El Paso in March.
History Professor Garna Christian said Parker won second place and Edgerton won fourth place in the Clifton Caldwell Historical Essay awards. Parker's essay was titled "The Romantic History of Sylvan Beach" and Edgerton's "Ramos and Compean--Ex-Border Patrol Agents." The essays will be reviewed for possible publication next month.

President Flores will address Staff Council on budget reductions
Staff Council will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in room N-1099, One Main Building. President Bill Flores is the guest speaker and he will discuss UHD's budget reductions. All staff members are welcome to attend the monthly Staff Council meetings. Back to Top

 Spring Break Bash has safety theme before students depart for breakPresident Bill Flores talks with students participating in the UHD Police Department's "Drunk Walk" booth during the Spring Break Bash co-sponsored by the UHD Community Involvement Center and the Campus Activities Board Thursday, March 10, on the South Deck. Participants at the booth wore goggles that simulated the impact drinking alcohol has on their ability to walk a straight line. The bash featured music, food and games along with safety information on skin care, oral hygiene, road safety and alcohol awareness designed to help students have a safe Spring Break. The Offiice of Public Affairs produces the Skyline eNews Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the school year, and you will receive the Skyline eNews via email while you are a UHD employee. We update our email list weekly. The eNews is a University faculty and staff newsletter and is designed to keep employees informed of university activities, policy changes, human resources issues, business office information and security information.
The deadline for submitting items is 9 a.m. the day before publication. Past issues are archived on UHD's website. The archive link is in the lower right column.
We are always interested in your activities. Let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can include your event in the Skyline eNews.
