|Expect power outage to One Main's south tower; staff should take precautions
Electrical power to the One Main Building south tower will be out approximately eight hours beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, so Facilities Management recommends that staff members power down computers and shut down any equipment that might be adversely affected by the power outage.
This outage is related to the fifth floor library renovations and involves the south tower normal circuits and lighting. All emergency back-up circuits will remain powered up and the generator will run for the duration of the outage.
Due to length of the power outage, the Facilities Management staff recommends that any refrigerators used for food storage be emptied as well.
For information, contact T.C. Wilson, Director MEP, at extension 8055 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

|Testing and maintenance of campus fire detection, notification, suppression systems scheduled through Jan. 14
Facilities Management will perform semi-annual testing and maintenance of the campus fire detection /notification / suppression systems (and related elevator fire service re-call, air handler shut-downs, fire-door hold-open devices and stair pressurization controls) through Jan. 14.
All campus buildings will be addressed during this period. Due to the size of the systems, the contractors involved and the cost of the labor required to perform the work, this test must be performed during normal business hours. Please consider this an opportunity for the university community to become familiar with these fire and life safety systems and the campus emergency public address system.
An announcement will be made over the PA system prior to alarms being sounded to inform occupants of testing. Alarms and strobe lights will then be engaged briefly and certified by technicians. An announcement will be made after the conclusion of each segment of audible and visual alarm testing.
This inspection is a requirement of the National Fire Protection Association. If you have any concerns, please contact T.C. Wilson, Director of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing, at extension 8055. Thank you for your cooperation.
