Registration is open for UHD's first ever, online Winter Term this December

UHD's Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs announced recently that UHD will hold its first ever, online Winter Term from Dec. 27, 2010, to Jan. 14, 2011.

"Currently enrolled UHD students will be able to take one course during the session, and registration for Winter Term is tentatively set to open on Dec. 1," Dressman said.

UHD's online courses always fill quickly, and many students have expressed an interest in a mini-mester format, he said.

Tuition and fees will be slightly reduced from the cost of a single course in the fall or spring semester, and UHD plans to have short-term loans available for qualified students who enroll. Students who receive financial aid spring semester will be able to apply a portion of the aid to pay back loan for the course, he said.

O'Kane Gallery opens Jose Perez exhibit

O'Kane Gallery curator Mark Cervenka, left, hosted artist Jose Perez and Perez's wife, Mary, during a reception for an exhibit of Perez's drawings from the series, The Man From Xixes, and some of his paintings. The exhibit runs through Dec. 16.

Perez first conceived of the series more than 30 years ago and he has worked on it since then.  The Man From Xixes, an allegory of human folly as seen through the animal kingdom, speaks fully to the themes Perez has embraced throughout his professional career in drawing and painting.
