Mastercam to Showcase New Products at IMTS!

As always, Mastercam will be exhibiting at IMTS, one of the biggest manufacturing shows in the United States held every two years at the McCormick Place in Chicago. This year's show will take place September 10th through the 15th. Visit Mastercam's booth (#E-3340 in the East Building) to view demonstrations of new product offerings such as Mastercam Swiss Expert 2012. Mastercam will also show products including Blade Expert and future products like the new functions highlighted by the Mill/Turn product and Safe Link. Using Mastercam X6 to its Fullest - Stock Model-Based Rest Milling

Mastercam's X6 3D "OptiRest" Rest Milling is one of the toolpaths that directly benefits from the new Mastercam X6 stock model. "OptiRest" is Mastercam's latest 3D high speed toolpath - it performs rest rough milling operations to remove stock left from roughing passes with larger cutters. This powerful new toolpath compares the in-process stock model to the intended shape to create an optimized dynamic milling cleanup pass. The result is precise, efficient motion that is easier on your tooling and your machine.

Mastercam X6 Wire Enhancements

Here are some of the improvements to Mastercam X6 Wire:

New AutoSync Rails:

This function has been improved in Mastercam X6 Wire to create better synchronized wirepath chains from selected solids and surfaces. Choose Create, Autosync Rails to access this new functionality.

Wirepath Editor Improvements:

The Mastercam Wirepath Editor now supports 4-axis Direct wirepaths.

Control Definition Option to Force Wire Taper to Vertical:

Mastercam X4 introduced a Reset Taper option on the Leads page that allowed you to force the wire back to a vertical position when the Max lead out distance is used. In Mastercam X6, a new option in the Control Definition allows for this Reset Taper mode to be always active. Some machines require the wire to move to a vertical position on a change-over from G41 to G42 compensation.

Mastercam X6 to be the Last Release that Supports Windows XP and Vista OS 

Mastercam X6 is the last release that will support the Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Starting with Mastercam X7, you will not be able to install Mastercam X7 on the Microsoft Windows XP or Vista operating systems.

Mastercam Night Classes Will Be Back in September!

Throughout May, OptiPro held a 4-week Mastercam Night Course on different aspects of Mastercam Design, Mill Level 1, Mill Level 2, and Mill Level 3. The class began with the basic concepts of Mastercam and progressed into geometry definition, 2D toolpath, 3D contouring and surface machining.

Due to the recent success of this program, OptiPro plans to hold another Mastercam Night Course in September with the same curriculum.
