Yama Seiki - Goodway Introduces GA-2000CMR with Built-In Robot Arm |
| Check out a video of the Goodway GA-2000C with robot arm >> |
As seen in Manufacturing News -
Yama Seiki's Goodway GA 2000C compact turning center equipped with built-in robot arm and parts pallet system is engineered to handle complex turning applications with accuracy and maximize productivity and is designed to be a more cost effective production solution. |
The EWR03 robot arm is built into the GA-2000C which allows for a safer environment, cleaner facilities and easy maintenance. It is a three-axis robot system using the pendulum swing type design. With the ability to handle round disk type parts with maximum part diameter of 4.72 inches and maximum part weight of 11 lbs, the quickest parts change time is 7 seconds. With the flipping device feature, the robot arm is able to handle AB side operation. With the use of AC servo motor, repeated accuracy is +/- 0.05 mm. Equipped with a 5.7" hand held control, the system includes teaching mode, coordinate input, operation and edit and memory capacity of 10 running programs (each of 500 single) and 300 teaching points.
The GA-2000C and robot arm is also paired with a 10-pallet incline type pallet system. This type of pallet system allows the machining of varying sizes of parts within a range without the need to change pallets. A double layer option is also available for longer parts.
The use of this system can reduce accidents and enable quicker changeover time to be achieved, thus decreasing overall costs.

 | Yama Seiki Swiss-Type Turning Centers Ideal for 32-mm Diameter Parts |
As seen in 6/27/2012 Production Machining Magazine - Yama Seiki's Goodway Swiss-Type turning center SW machines provide the best solution for workpieces with diameters smaller than 32 mm. Machines in the SW series include the SW-20 (20-mm max. machining diameter), the SW-32 (32-mm max. machining diameter) and the SW-42 (42-mm max. machining diameter). Additionally, the SW series machines are available with a subspindle, live tooling and a bar feeder.
The SW series offers more flexible operations, such as turning, milling and cross drilling.
| Check out a video of the SW-20 Swiss Turning Center >> |
With a different combination of power systems, main spindle, subspindle, front-end tooling, rear-end tooling, C axis and live tools, the workpiece can be finished on the machine, and this also allows two operations to be machined simultaneously.
The SW Series features modular spindle construction. The spindle can be exchanged to be bush-type or bushless-type depending on different work requirements. The bushless design is suitable for machining cold-forged bar, and the remaining bar can be less than 50 mm to save material cost. The bush-type can be rotated with high speed for less surface damage and to increase working performance.
Fully enclosed splashguards keep chips and coolant contained for a safe, clean working environment. All spindle and servomotors are Fanuc high performance components. C3 class hardened and precision ground ballscrews ensure high accuracy and durability. Plus, pretension on all axes minimizes thermal distortion.
Automatic lubrication is provided to all slideways, ballscrews and vital components. Maintenance-free piston distributors deliver a precise quantity of oil to each lubrication point. Distribution is automatically shut off during idling to prevent waste. The piston distributors are non-clogging and the design allows way lube consumption to be minimized.
An optional A/C unit is available to control the temperature and humidity inside the electrical cabinet. This helps to extend the life of electrical components.

AccuteX EDM Introduces New 5-Axis Wire EDM |
As seen in Manufacturing News - AccuteX EDM, a division of Absolute Machine Tools, Inc., has introduced its new SP-300iA 5-Axis CNC Wire EDM. This machine features the latest "Microsparking Technology," the MST-II function that is designed to provide exceptional part finishes. Aerospace and medical industries in particular have demands for low recast and fine finishes. Further, this machine is built with a Meehanite cast honeycomb base, highly-ribbed column that is mounted with oversized UVZ axis and reinforced lower arm for added stiffness. All castings are stabilized and subjected to rigorous testing to ensure maximum strength, high precision and durability.
The X, Y, Z working range is 13.8" x 9.8" x 8.7". U and V axes are both 3.15". The U-V axis mechanism is places in a cabinet above the working area, assuring optimal rigidity and protection from humidity and physical damage. The axes are driven by means of closed-loop AC servo motors with 0.000004" resolution and controlled by a linear glass scale feedback system. The SP-300iA also incorporates the latest generation ball-retainer type guideways which reduce 90 percent of friction variation compared to conventional guideways.
The workpiece mounting table is made of hardened stainless steel, designed to offer easy accessibility and is designed as a standard clamping system. This solution is intended to reduce setup time. The table can also accommodate most commercial fixturing systems. All the operations relating to wire handling have been simplified on the SP-300iA. The machine is equipped with an annealing, fully automatic wire threading system with a tip disposal unit. It also features AccuteX's patent-pending servo-controlled wire threading technology and multi-detectors.
