A New Lease on Life for GE's Appliance Park
GE Consumer & Industrial confirmed earlier media reports that it will manufacture energy efficient hybrid electric water heaters in Louisville, KY, at its Appliance Park manufacturing campus. The new production line will create about 400 jobs.Read more... |
 Tech Tip: Fridiaire Dryer Over Heating
Frigidaire has developed a replacement part for the overheating problem with the gas model FAQG7011 and FAQG7077 dryers. It is somewhat similar to the Electrolux kit of a few months ago, with multiple holes punched into the heat duct, made to allow excess heat to get away from the rear of the drum.

Appliance Store Sales Flat in July

The U.S. Census Bureau reported that adjusted Electronics & Appliance Store sales in July 2010 were $8.711 billion, virtually unchanged from $8.716 billion in June 2010, but significantly higher than July 2009's $8.065 billion.
These advance monthly sales are adjusted for seasonal variation, holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes.

USA Trains Self-Servicing Dealers of in Louisville KY  MEGA Group USA, a leading national home furnishings buying group for appliance, electronic, furniture and mattress retailers with 1500 members and 2500 store fronts held their annual connvention in Louisville KY this week. USA conducted two days of Service related breakout sessions for members that are self-servicing retailers. Electrolux, GE and Whirlpool provided the members with hands-on technical training while Dean Landers and Paul MacDonald gave presentations on technican soft skills, flat rate pricing, technician compensation plans, increasing first call completes and calculating the cost of a service call. Members remarked on the added value from the meetings while one member commented: " What I learned more then paid for my trip to the convention". USA will provide a similar program at the Mega spring 2011 convention in San Antonio, TX. |
