The e-Servicer
Greetings!

Welcome to the May 2010 edition of our eNewsletter published exclusively for members and friends of USA.

Memorial DayMemorial Day and Labor Day are bookend holidays, marking the beginning and end of the summer holidays in the United States. These three-day weekends traditionally are times for celebration and family outings. Celebrated in most states on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is a time to remember the U.S. men and woman who lost their lives serving their country. Originally known as Decoration Day, it was established in 1868 to commemorate the dead from the Civil War. Over the years it came to serve as a day to remember all U.S. men and women killed or missing in action in all wars.
Enjoy this day of remembrance with your family and friends but take a minute to remember all those that fought and continue to fight for our freedom.

Sincerely yours,
The USA Team

  Cost of Doing Business (CODB)

The cost of doing business is the process of identifying the costs of a business and of breaking down and relating them to the various activities of the organization. It's important to do this in our own companies so that we can:
  •  determine the hourly cost of operating our business
  • set service rates based on numbers
  • make informed decisions not reactionary, emotional or gut
  • demonstrate the effects of expense increase or decrease
  • determine the effect of a manufacturer or third party administrator offered warranty labor rate
  • measure the effect of giving a technician pay increase
  • achieve desired profits from your business activity

PSA withdraws from ASTI 2011PSA

"It was with great disappointment recently that USA was officially informed by PSA that they would not be participating in a joint convention with USA in 2011," said Tanner Andrews, USA president.

A letter sent to USA by Don Holman, president of PSA, stated: "The vote was unanimous to proceed with our own convention for 2011.  We will not be partnering with USA and co-hosting a convention known as ASTI 2011."

"USA will continue to strive to unite the North American service industry by partnering with any and all associations that want to work together to improve our industry, including PSA. However, USA will work independently if necessary to replicate the size, scope and success of the Orlando convention with ASTI 2011," Andrews stated firmly.

NEW WEB TRAINING PORTAL

Electrolux is preparing to introduce a new (still in test now) web training portal.

Electrolux has been working for a year or more developing a website with a complete learning management system. This new tool includes courses on a variety of topics with product repair videos, quizzes, and a multitude of other functions that will allow service technicians to train at their convenience 24/7 without having to travel to a training location.
This new functionality will supplement their on-site hands-on training, not  replace it. The new site will be demonstrated at the Mega Group USA convention in August.

Stay tuned and we'll let you know when it's launched.
