let's begin......
Meditation. How can anything so simple be so difficult to fit into our schedules and practice? There are as many reasons as there are people who don't do it.
I was just having this conversation the other day. For me, it was very difficult to start a meditation practice. I had been raised that sitting around was lazy. In fact, this is the belief system. 'If you have time to sit around you have time to find something to do.' Funny thing was that as I explored that belief, I found that those making that rule found watching TV qualified as something to do. Can you see the irony in that screwed up thought process?
For some it is a priority issue. They just don't take care of themselves first. Everything is outside of them. Everyone and everything is a priority except caring for their own well-being. Wait until some health issue rises up and then when it can't be ignored any longer, stop and get a body part taken out.
Some just need proof that meditation 'does' something. For those who need physical proof, the science types have discovered that meditation has lots of health benefits. It lowers blood pressure and such.
Just sitting and quieting our minds. It is very simple and there are so many ways to acheive this. Play with it and find what works for you. But in order to do it, you have to schedule it into your day. Preferably in the morning before the day is underway. That will get you the best results. Some do it morning and evening, depends on the results you want to get.
The amount of time you want to put towards it is up to you, 10-15 minutes is a great place to start. You don't require any guru or training. Just take a little bit of time to sit down and ask your mind to be quiet for a few moments and listen to the silence in your head.
I know for some 'that is' the problem. Their mind has been running the show for so long it is not going to give over any game time. Just listen to yourself when you throw that idea out there. You find all kinds of things to do. For some, their minds will not let go willingly.
The beauty of meditation is that you regain control of who you really are. Your mind is a great problem solver. But it draws it's info from the limited time it has been here in the physical while your soul has been around for a little while longer. Your mind is great for doing things but it should not be making decisions for you.
This is where it can get tricky. Two of me?? The part that does the thinking and the part that observes and knows. And it is the part that knows that has you reading this email. The part that thinks is thinking about something or anthing that is not related to this topic right now and the only way to really get a handle on which is which is to meditate. Because once you have a handle on that part of you that just babbles on all day, everyday (some of you may not even know it is talking), then and only then, can you really start to hear your guidance.
That is why your FEELINGS are so key. Your FEELINGS don't come from your mind. It is the communication from the real you that would be covered up by the babble going on. Your Feelings tell you which babble is taking you where you want to go in relationship to your hopes and dreams. This is the part of you that is limitless and powerful. That is the part of you, you want to listen to. So take some time and quiet things down and get in touch with a part of you that loves every inch of you. How much of you does your mind love unconditionally?
EVERY inch.

For me, this was such a turning point. To understand that feelings were the way that Source/my Inner Being was communicating with me was something I had never heard before. I come from a family that was all about not showing emotion. Emotions were a sign of weakness and so on and so on. Somehow it made sense though. Why else would God have given us something that we wouldn't have a use for.
Emotions=Communication. It is how Spirit gets our attention. Makes complete sense. Once I started playing with this concept, my life changed. How the heck did I miss that one? Sometimes it gets tricky when I have a knee jerk response to something that I am not really wanting. But with some practice I have found that my feelings don't let me down. The more sensitive I get to how I feel, the better I feel in general. The better I feel the more I find my life experience bringing to me all the things I could ever hope for. Sure I still have some resistant or limiting thoughts that I want to turn around but cleaning up my emotional vibration has made all the difference
