Substances in the Workplace

From cleaning chemicals, weed killer, adhesives, solders, sealant and aerosols most businesses use substances in the workplace. This leads to the need for CoSHH assessments and correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Conducting CoSHH assessments will highlight any hazards to your employees from exposure of the substance and lead to the correct usage of the substance and help to eliminate any health hazards associated with the product.

Although we may not realise it exposure to substances can lead to employees suffering from asthma, dermatitis and many more, and long term exposure can even lead to disabilities.

There have been a few cases in recent months were employees have been diagnosed and suffered from life-long permanent illnesses due to substance exposure and incorrect usage of PPE. Unfortunately, the employers had poor practice with carrying out health surveillance of their employees and this has lead to fines of over £25,000 to the employer.

As a business owner it is your responsibility to ensure the health and safety of your employees and with fines this high for SME's it's a risk you can't afford to take.

Free Access to Government Contracts

There are numerous websites available to all businesses to search for Government contracts, but the majority of these websites come with hidden costs - which can become costly to SME's.

So the government is looking to award these public sector contracts to SME's however the subscription costs can be up to £180 to receive the full benefit of the service. Somewhat a 'catch 22' situation.

After a three month trial last year supply2gov is now dropping it's fees and making it's service available to all business for free. And as supply2gov are known for publishing many public sector contracts under the value of £100,000 this couldn't be a more relevant and priceless service for SME's.

However there are still some catches, to receive a daily e-mail alert this is chargeable and making sense of the jargon of the contracts published or even knowing what to do next will leave many businesses in the dark.

So before you sign-up and take advantage of this free service call us now for free advice.
