Staff Shortage?

At Westminster compliance we are always keeping our eyes open for ways to help keep our clients costs to the minimum and this month we have details of a new scheme introduced to cut down employers recruitment costs.

'Work Trials' is an initiative offering a free 30 day work trial for employers to 'try out' a candidate who has been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for at least 6 months.  If you have a vacancy to fill this is a good way to fill the position without advertising or other recruitment costs.

To get involved with the scheme the employer needs to fill out an agreement including a section on Health & Safety and Equal opportunities in the workplace.

We are currently offering a package to work alongside our clients with this form to assist with these sections of the agreement.

Taking Responsibility

Following a survey carried out last month by the National Accident Helpline - it appears more & more employers are not taking responsibility for the Health & Safety of their staff.

Those surveyed had suffered a workplace injury and were asked their thoughts on their employer's attitude to health and safety. Over half of these employees felt that their employers were just not making this a priority.

Since the recession employers have been left having to make a choice about the resources made available to them and their staff to cut down on costs. Unfortunately most don't realise that cutting down on taking responsibility for staff welfare can lead to higher costs in the long run.

Look out for your staff and ensure your premises are regularly audited, your policy is up to date with current legislation and your staff have received adequate training
