Featured Feline:
Jasper

Jasper
Jasper's owner brought him to us at the beginning of June. Jasper is a laidback cat, and he can be shy at first. Once he gets to know you, though, he will open up. Then he becomes quite the lap cat, and he won't want to leave his comfy spot! Jasper is a member of the Silver Paws Club, so, during the month of October only, he can be adopted for just $50.

Elvis

Elvis
We want to be able to say, "Elvis has left the building!" Elvis came to us in the middle of September as an owner surrender. When you first see Elvis, you would think he was a very beautiful boy but we have heard him also called gorgeous, stunning, tall, dark and handsome to just say a few. (He's quite the singer, too!) He loves to follow every scent that comes along and track down its source. Elvis is still a kid at heart as he loves stuffed animals and can take the stuffing out in record time! He enjoys being in the spotlight, just so long as it involves head scratches and ear rubs! (Thank you. Thank you very much!)

Greetings!

Chuck and MeikoThe Cedar Valley Humane Society provides refuge to animals of all ages, from very young kittens and puppies to senior cats and dogs.

Older pets often are overlooked in a shelter environment. With so many animals to choose from, potential adopters are often drawn to younger, more active animals. This means that, even though we do eventually find homes for our older residents, they tend to stay in our care for a longer period of time.

To encourage you to look more closely at these wonderful senior animals, we are introducing our Silver Paws Club. To belong to this exclusive club, members must be at least seven years old, have four legs and fur, talk with a meowzer or barky accent, and need a forever home.

Right now, we have roughly a dozen cats in the Silver Paws Club, including Jasper, Jewel, Jessie, and Meiko (who you see here, helping me with paperwork). Of course, new members are joining almost every day, and all of them are eager to meet you.

During October, the adoption fee for Silver Paws cats is only $50, so stop in and meet these distinguished guests today. You will really enjoy the special companionship only an older animal can bring into your life.

On behalf of the animals-

P.S. The Cedar Valley Humane Society is one of the few open-access shelters that commits to caring for adoptable older animals until they can be placed in forever homes. Please donate now and support our commitment to these special creatures.

Volunteer Spotlight: Norah Hammond

Norah Hammond, general manager and education director of the Science Station, makes hand and pawtime from her busy schedule to consistently help at the Second Chance Thrift Store on Saturdays. Her expertise falls in the categories of customer service, merchandising, and pricing suggestions.

Additionally, she pitches in to accept and sort donations; and organize and clean the store. Norah always works with a cheerful attitude and a smile! Norah, thanks for being someone we can count on to do all the wonderful things you do! Your efforts are priceless.

Happy Tail: Midnite is Awesome New Family Member

Midnite is loving her new home! She loves to lounge around and play with her many toys. She loves to be outside running in her fenced-in backyard. She also loves to go on long Midnitewalks and runs daily. She is learning many tricks, like stay and roll over.

Midnite is a great dog, and we have no complaints. I think it is because she was at the Cedar Valley Humane Society and was well taken care of. I would like to thank the Cedar Valley Humane Society for giving us the pleasure to have a great dog and an awesome new member of the family. Thanks again for this amazing dog!
