Featured Feline: Millie
Millie came into our care as a stray in December. She is very independent girl who won't approach you until you put her in the spotlight. She can be a little skittish and probably would do best in a home without young children. She is looking for someone with gentle ways who will allow her time to adjust to her new home. And believe us, once she warms up to you, she will lick the treats right out of your hand! Millie is such a sweet and kindhearted kitty...won't you come meet her? She is a member our Lonely Hearts Club, which means you can bring her home for only $45! |

Compatible Canine: Gabby
Gabby came to us at the beginning of July as a transfer from another shelter. This sweet girl is a social butterfly! She has the personality of a red heeler--she likes to have a job to do. Gabby is so eager to please! She loves the company of people and does well with children. (We're not sure how she does with cats, though.) Gabby is still an active chewer, so praise her when she leaves household items alone. Gabby can be frightened of loud noises, so be sure to let her adjust before you decide to run the vacuum! Stop in and meet Gabby today.

Greetings!
We are teeming with felines! We now have roughly 60 cats and kittens in our adoption areas, nearly 20 of them three to five months old.
So this weekend, we are running a feline adoption special: adopt one cat or kitten, get the second for half price. (That's two cats of your choice for $135, and they must go to the same home.)
We also have several ongoing programs that may help you bring home a cat (or two)!
MeowMates is designed to keep together cats who would have difficulty adjusting if separated. Adopt both MeowMates for $90, which is the cost of one cat. Be sure to look for our MeowMates signs designating these specially priced cats. (There are at least six pairs!)
Cat Companions for Seniors provides a cat and all the start-up supplies to seniors at no charge. Ask our adoption counselors to help you find the right fit for your situation.
Our Lonely Hearts Club is exclusively for cats who have been in our care for more than five months. Eight cats are now members, and they can be adopted for only $45 each. And, as always, cats who are seven years old or more qualify for a reduced adoption fee of $75.
With this selection, and these prices, there really has never been a better time to bring home a cat or two! Come on in and meet your future feline friends today!
Together, we can make a difference-
Kirsten Eddins President Board of Directors P.S. All these cats and kittens are stretching our resources to the limit. Please help us care for the animals by donating today! |

Volunteer Spotlight: Mary Allen
Mary Allen has been a great asset to Cedar Valley Humane Society. Mary assists the front desk once a week with tasks, such as matching up lost and found dogs. Mary also walks the dogs and socializes the cats. But Mary doesn't stop there! She also helps at a lot of our events, like our Whine & Wags fundraiser. Mary is smart, funny and a truly great person to have around. Thanks, Mary! You do an outstanding job of helping us fulfill our mission. |

Happy Tail: Dog Therapy Session Turns into Adoption for Manzo (now Wrigley Tucker)
Wrigley Tucker (formerly known as Manzo) is an incredible addition to my life! I hadn't intended to adopt any dog the day I saw him at the Cedar Valley Humane Society. My beagle Benjie had just gone to dog heaven the week before, and a friend and I were doing "dog therapy" at your facility. (After you lose your dog, just visiting and being around those little pieces of sunshine works wonders!)
But then I saw this little black, bright-eyed ball of fur who had been a stray and knew I couldn't leave him in that kennel indefinitely. Everyone was so helpful and encouraging at CVHS--the food, blanket, chew toys, and written info made it especially easy to bring him home with me.
Tucker has adapted well, loves meeting other dogs, and jumps up and down as he "watches" the Olympics on TV. His favorite places to rest are on the lower part of my coffee table and the top of the sofa. Tucker has quickly become part of our family!
There are so many great animals at the Cedar Valley Humane Society, and the screening and adoption process is so thorough, I'd highly recommend going there. Thank you, CVHS!
Sincerely, Melia T. Remember, YOU can send us your Happy Tail, too!
