Featured Feline: Scotty
Scotty was returned to us in January because his owner was moving and couldn't keep him. If you want a big cat this may be the one! He loves watching the world outside in the window from a high perch. Scotty is very sociable and loves attention. This is one cat you have to meet! Scotty is part of our Lonely Hearts Club, which means his adoption fee is only $45.00! |

Compatible Canine: Richie
Richie came to us in the middle of June as a transfer from Cedar Bend Humane Society. Our volunteers have told us that he is very eager to learn. He likes his toys but will stop everything for a good rub down! He has learned how to "sit" as he really wants the treats that come after! Come meet this sweet kiddo today!

Greetings!
We've been working together for almost a year now--you, me, and the entire community--and we've accomplished a lot of things.
One of the things I am most proud of is that we have increased our adoption rate to the point where we have been able to transfer in animals from overcrowded shelters in the area. We have transferred in more than 100 animals since the beginning of the year, including the rescued Sac County cocker spaniels.
Animal welfare organizations track a statistic called the "live release rate," which includes adopted animals, animals reunited with their owners, and animals transferred to other shelters and rescue groups.
Here's some unsettling news: Nationally, the live release rate hovers at a dismal 44%.
Now for our statistics: In May 2012, the Cedar Valley Humane Society's live release rate was 84%. In June, it jumped to a remarkable 90%.
At the Cedar Valley Humane Society, we are saving lives. And we couldn't do it without your help.
Together, we can make a difference-

We Asked, You Answered!
So, what happens when your pet gets around water? (Think swimming pools, baths, sprinklers, etc.)
Stacey L. Rogers : One of my cats plays in the water bowl as if it were a swimming pool.
Sherry Harding: I have two small plastic pools for the dogs. Scooter (greyhound) uses them for a water bowl. Opie (jack russell) throws his toys in and dives in after them!
Leah Rae Kane: My dogs run! lol

Happy Tail: Roscoe Growing Up Happy!
Roscoe is doing very well! He has been very healthy and playful. He's gaining weight slowly, and he loves to play outside in our big backyard and go on long walks, sometimes up to 45 minutes.
Roscoe is doing very well with potty training, and accidents inside have been very minimal. He knows a few words, especially "no biting" and "food." He sleeps very well at night in his kennel and does not need to be taken outside in the middle of the night.
Our vet has given Roscoe a positive bill of health, and he had his first haircut three weeks ago.
Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to adopt our beautiful, happy puppy. Daniel N. Remember, YOU can send us your Happy Tail, too!
