Featured Feline:
Martin

Martin
Martin's owner brought him to us at the beginning of May. This sweet kiddo is so adorable that you can't help but to say "Awwwww" when you see him. Martin is one cat that could talk your ear off. He is so social that you can even tell what kind of a mood he is in! He's looking for a family he can call his own. Is it yours?
Compatible Canine:
Cloe

Cloe came to us as a stray at the beginning of May. She is a very loving, sweet girl. If you give her a good rub, she will cuddle with you as long as she can. Cloe loves to be outside but if she had a choice, she would choose to just be by your side and loved!

Greetings!

Bob and DeeDeeHave you heard about Moolah-Paw-Looza? It's a new way the Cedar Valley Humane Society is raising funds to support our spay/neuter program for adoptable animals.

Curbing pet overpopulation is an enormous part of our mission. We live this part of our mission every day by spaying and neutering every cat and dog adopted from our shelter. It truly is the most effective, proactive way to decrease the number of unwanted animals in our communities.

So, we've introduced the Moolah-Paw-Looza raffle, with the revenue specifically dedicated to supporting our vital spay/neuter program. Buy a ticket for only $25, and you could win big! We have four cash prizes: a $2,500 grand prize and three $1,000 prizes.

Yes, you could be a big winner! But, truly, we all win: the dogs and cats, as well as each and every one of us in the community. Every animal deserves the love of a family, and the best way to make sure this happens is to decrease the number of unwanted animals...and we can't do it without you.

Together, we can make a difference-

We Asked, You Answered!
speech bubble

Do you change clothes in front of your pet?

Diane Yeager: Yes, and they have the good manners NOT to laugh.

Mija Elena Bean: My dog is polite and walks out or looks away. Then when I'm done, she will go back to looking anywhere her dog eyes please.

Nicole French: Sure! How else would my kitties be able to give me their approval in wardrobe choice by rubbing up against my black work pants? They keep Scotch brand pet hair rollers' stock prices up!

Deborah Busching: I always have. They had to make sure I properly accessorized the dog and cat hair on my garments. LOL

She is ready in a heartbeat when we need someone at the last minute. Michelle is very friendly and easy to work with, and she goes out of her way to show initiative and be an all-around stellar volunteer. Thanks, Michelle! We're incredibly fortunate to have you on our team!

Happy Tail: Beu is Bonding with Family

About four weeks ago we adopted Beu from your shelter. He was a special-needs dog who was in your care for a while. I wanted to give Beu runningyou an update. Beu is slowly adapting to life at our house. He has bonded with me and is starting the process of bonding with the children, but he is still not a fan of my husband. It was a rough first week, as it took three days for him to eat any food. As he is slowly emerging from his shell, we are learning more about him and how to make things better for him.

He can be off the leash when I am outside and paying attention to him. He enjoys playing fetch and loves to chase the ball across our vast lawn. He comes to me when I call him. The other day he came when called when I wasn't sure where he had wandered off to. He is responding to "down," and this week I have even added some "stay" commands, and he is doing very well. He is very smart and responsive when it is just he and I outside. When others are outside, his attention is not focused, and I have a much harder time getting him to respond.

Coming in the house at night was not his favorite thing-and for the first several weeks I had to carry him inside. The past four nights, with some gentle coaxing, he came in on his own. He has chosen his corner in the house and does not stray far from it.

We are still learning and being patient with Beu, but he is improving each week. I have one picture that I will share--it took a while to get as he does not like anything new, and the camera usually makes him slink off.

Thanks,

Beth C.

Remember, YOU can
send us your Happy Tail, too!

Of all animals, the cat alone attains to the contemplative life. He regards the wheel of existence from without, like the Buddha.
