Featured Feline: Skunk
Skunk is so named because he is gray with a white stripe down his back. Skunk is full of spunk! He is a very outgoing cat who would do well in a home with a lot of activity. He has plenty of kitten in him, and he gets along well with other cats. You will want to cuddle this little guy all the time, because his fur is very soft and silky. This baby loves to give hugs, and he purrs constantly. Skunk has been in our care since early September. |

Compatible Canine: Molly
Molly is an energetic girl who came to us as a stray in the middle of November. We think she was an outdoor dog, so she might have missed out a little on socialization--but she craves affection and is very people-focused. If you have her on a leash and drop your end, she'll pick it up and "walk" herself. She's such a sweetie! She would benefit from some obedience training. Molly does well with other dogs, so if you're looking for a companion for your canine, she might be the one! |

Greetings!
Happy New Year!
We are looking forward to a great 2012! We're planning several new fundraising events, including a dinner theatre called "Whacked at da Wedding," which will be on February 4.
Later in the year, we'll roll out a big-time raffle (a chance for you to win cash while supporting our cause!), as well as our first-ever volleyball tournament.
We'll also be bringing back some of our very popular events, such as Whine & Wags, a wine tasting and silent auction, in March; Woof Walk in May; and Drives for Lives in August. And of course, we'll have our dog obedience training classes during the summer.
So stay tuned... 2012 promises to be an exciting year, and we want you to be a part of it!
Wishing you a prosperous and cheerful 2012 and beyond-
Bob Citrullo Executive Director P.S. If you didn't get a chance to donate because of the hubbub of the holidays, it's never too late! Start the new year off right by taking a moment to donate today. |

And Now for Something Completely Different!
You're cordially invited to a comedy murder mystery whodunit, Whacked at da Wedding! The w(h)acky nuptials take place on Saturday, February 4, at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center, 525 33rd St. SW in Cedar Rapids. Enjoy a delicious sit-down dinner and join the investigation, wrestle with the clues, or just sit back and laugh! Cash bar opens at 6pm; dinner and show begin at 7pm. Guests will have their choice of roast beef or vegetarian lasagna. Tickets are $60 and must be purchased by January 20. Here's da plan: Come to the Manicotti/Gelatto wedding, and you're sure to die of laughter! Will this union bring peace in da family? Does the bride's father, Tony "the Hair" Gelatto, really approve of the marriage of his daughter Gina? What secrets might Gina try to keep? Will the groom Rico's efforts to hide his true profession come back to bite him? Mama Mia is sure vocal about her feelings, but might she also be driven to murder? Nicco, the best man, can't be as innocent as he'd have us believe, can he? Marissa the Mouth has certainly played the field lately. Perhaps she's desperate for more than love? Perhaps one of the other "family members" will get Whacked at da Wedding! In lieu of wedding gifts, Gina and Rico are requesting guests bring an item from the Cedar Valley Humane Society wish list. Guests will have an opportunity to pose for a "wedding" photo with one of our adoptable animals. (A 4x6 photo is only $10!) We'll also offer valet parking for a minimum $5 donation, as well as a chance to purchase a ticket and win in our 50/50 raffle. Register today! To reserve a table for eight, or for more information, contact Jan Clarke at (319) 362-6288 or jan.clarke@cvhumane.org. All proceeds benefit homeless animals at the Cedar Valley Humane Society. |

Volunteer Spotlight: Robert Lane
Robert Lane has been a tremendous help to us for almost a year now. He's helped at parades, countless events, pet therapy sessions, orientations, and so much more! He volunteered at several of our Tree of Hope events at PetCo. He also played Santa twice this past holiday season!
Robert is someone who can be called upon, often at the last minute, and counted upon. Whatever we need, whenever we need it, Robert is ready. (He is sort of like our own genie in a bottle!) Thanks, Robert, for being so available and flexible with your time. You've helped our shelter sweeties in more ways than you know. |

Happy Tail: Noah "Writes" to Say He's Spoiled
Merry Christmas to all of the wonderful, caring staff! Remember me, Noah...the big gold and white tabby cat in an extra large cage? My adoptive Mom and Dad live in Florida! I am so-o-o-o-o spoiled! Lots of love, toys, and treats!!
Sunny Florida is great...warm, cozy places to curl up and sleep at every window. (Of course, my home has constant climate control!!) Sometimes I get to go for rides--which I love! Another favorite is jumping in a bathtub with a couple of inches of water to play in! Very unusual...guess I act like a dog! They laugh at me splashing around!
Happy Holidays! Sent with kitty-cat love, Noah
Remember, YOU can send us your Happy Tail, too!
