Featured Feline:
Nala

nala
Nala was brought to us by her owner towards the end of February because the family was moving and couldn't take her with them. She is shy at first but will warm up to you, so be patient with her. Once Nala gets used to you, she becomes more outgoing and talkative. She is sweet girl who loves attention, and we think she would be good with children.
Compatible Canine:
Bubba

Bubba
Bubba! This boy is just so glad to see you, his whole body wiggles- from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail! He knows how to sit, but he's so happy, he has a hard time focusing his energy. Happy happy happy! Happy happy happy! Bubba came into our care as a stray near the end of June.

Greetings!

Humans are capable of terrible things. Working for an animal welfare organization, we sometimes think we've seen it all. A cat with pellets embedded in her flank. A poodle confined to a crate in the blistering sun for days without food or water. An old, yellow Lab who could barely walk because of a basketball-sized tumor, abandoned to his fate in the countryside. But, amidst all this cruelty, our work brings us into contact with wonderful people. People who would do anything to help these animals, reminding us that humans are also capable of exceptional acts of deep compassion, joyful selflessness, and boundless generosity.

Your support helps us do great things for homeless animals in Linn County. Please take a moment to donate now. And thank you for all the compassionate, selfless, and generous things you do.

Sharing your love of animals-

How did your pet become a part of your family?

Leila Hennessey: Pistol Pete aka Little Beau Pete came from CVHS 15 1/2 years ago as a tiny kitten. Still amazing the vet with his good health!

Ambroja Photography: One cat came to my yard sale and stuck around for 3 weeks afterwards (probably because I fed her skinny self). The other cat I found kids throwing rocks at her (she was also very underweight, etc.) The 3rd came to my door during a freezing night. I picked her up, and I could feel fur and bones. They are all healthy, happy and safe now.

Mallory Tipton: Jack the mutt was found in a box by a dumpster. Cammie, a Maine Coon mix, was chased up the stairs of my apartment and into my arms by a dog.

Andrea Clark: My dog Jane was left at the front steps of the clinic I work at in a rubbermaid tote w/ no food & water. The clinic nicknamed her Jane Doe. So a rescue like all of the others.

Volunteer Spotlight: Erin Wilson

Erin Wilson has been a tremendous help all summer long! This is her second summer volunteering at the shelter. Erin comes in hand and pawnearly every day to clean the adoption cat rooms. She even comes in to help on her days off!

After cleaning, she assists with adoption counseling and laundry and, hey, more cleaning, and, well, you know, everything else that needs to be done! Erin, we are so thankful that you choose to volunteer for us. You are a total rock star, and we will miss you like crazy when you go back to college this week!

Happy Tail: Pixie Relaxes in Her New Home

I adopted my dog, Pixie, from Cedar Valley Humane Society! I absolutely love her! Pixie was a Pixie and Vonda watching TVgreat selection, and the Cedar Valley Humane Society took their time  (which I can appreciate) making sure that Pixie was the right fit for me! She was a great addition to the family, and she loves her two other pals! Adoption is always the best way to go!

Pixie is the best thing that's happened to me in a while, and I love coming home to her and cuddling with her at night! Here she is with me, just hanging out watching TV! She likes having her picture taken!

Vonda C.

Remember, YOU can
send us your Happy Tail, too!
