Featured Feline:
Trinity

 Trinity
Trinity came into our care as a stray in mid-March, and she is every bit a kitten! Playful... ornery... demanding when she wants attention. Trinity is very much an on-the-go cat--don't expect to be able to hold her and carry her around. She loves having her ears scratched. We think she might do best in a one-cat home.
Compatible Canine:
Jake

 Jake
Jake was brought to us in mid-April because his owner thought he was too much for her daycare kids to handle. He's a puppy, so expect puppy behavior, like chewing and jumping. Jake is a very submissive boy, but he loves to play and is very active. He has had some obedience training, and the trainer has offered to continue training after he has been adopted. He would be a great pet for an active family with a fenced-in yard, as he needs room to run and people to play with to help burn off his excess energy.

Greetings!

As some of you may already know, I will be leaving the Cedar Valley Humane Society at the end of May to become the practice administrator at the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama.

During my time at the Cedar Valley Humane Society, we have made many changes to strengthen this organization and prepare it for the future. Our dedicated staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors will continue the efforts to move this organization forward. Although I will miss being a part of those efforts, I leave secure in the knowledge that the Cedar Valley Humane Society is a stronger, more efficient, and effective organization.

My final day is scheduled for May 27. If you would like to say goodbye, or have any notes you'd like me to leave for my successor, please feel free to reach out to me, either at (319) 362-6288 or zach.melton@cvhumane.org.

We Asked, You Answered!
speech bubble

How many times a day do you walk your dog? Do other members of the family walk the dog, too?

Christoph Trappe: Once.

Tommi Jo Karma: Twice a day, usually 2 miles in the morning and 1-2 in the evening.

Elizabeth Carnicle: Once during the week. Depends on weather on weekends. She's puppy-pad trained and will not go anyplace but her "potty." We take her for rides pretty often too. And we play with her A LOT, which involves her zinging around the house like a little furry bullet! :)

Melanie French Moses: Once a day for an hour. She is high energy and she needs it! Otherwise she is kind of naughty :-)

Volunteer Spotlight: Alicia Greiner

Alicia Greiner is totally amazing! She works full time, takes classes at Kirkwood, and still finds time to come out at least Precious the cat: pencil drawingonce a week to walk, exercise, and spoil our pups. Her outgoing personality makes her a natural to help people interested in learning more about our adoptable dogs.

Alicia also is very proactive about seeing what else needs to be done while she is at the shelter. (Once, she spent almost an entire day cleaning out our storage room!)

As if that's not enough, Alicia is also an amazing artist, and she donated one of her stunning pet portraits to our Whine & Wags silent auction. Thank you, Alicia, for all you do to help us help homeless animals!

Happy Tail: Mango and Ryan (now Chang) Share the Love

We would like to give you an update on Mango and Ryan (renamed Chang) who we adopted in the middle of March. They are enjoying Mango and Changtheir new home and have brought us much happiness.

Thank you for taking such good care of them until we brought them home. And thank you also for your continuing care of all the pets in your care.

Thank you,

Chris and Anne H.

Remember, YOU can
send us your Happy Tail, too!
