Featured Feline: Jingle
Jingle was brought to us as a stray in the middle of December. She is a very curious girl who likes to explore her surroundings, and nothing's better than feather toys! This affectionate girl enjoys being brushed. She is good with both dogs and other cats. She is also front declawed. Stop in and meet her... maybe she's the one! |

Compatible Canine: Beau
Beau came into our care at the end of February. He has lots of energy, so you will need to commit to regular exercise with this sweet boy. We recommend that he go to a home without small kids, as he is quite the jumper. (When he gets excited, his jump is practically gravity defying!) He would be a great fit for an extremely active family with older kids who can help him burn off excess energy. |
Please come visit me and my friends! Monday-Friday: 12pm-7pm Saturday and Sunday: 12pm-5pm

Greetings!
Kitten season has officially begun. Kitten season is the term that shelters use to refer to the time of year when we begin to see an uptick in cat intakes. Typically in early spring, people bring us, not one stray cat, but five, six, seven cats at a time. In addition to momma cats and their kittens, we also take in a lot of pregnant cats. As you can see, kitten season causes the numbers of cats in our care to increase very quickly.
You can help us during this season by donating supplies, like KMR kitten milk replacer, bottles and accessories; hot water bottles; canned cat food; and cat litter. For a full list of what we need, check out our wish list. Thanks for your support!
Until they all find a home-
Zach Melton Executive Director
P.S. If you would rather not shop for supplies, you can donate now! |

We Asked, You Answered!
The days are getting warmer. (Yay!) What's your pet's favorite outdoor activity?
Brandy Ann: My cats are indoor pets but they LOOOOOVE sitting in the window sill and watching (and chirping at) the birds. It's very amusing!
Kathie Jessen: Digging in the mud!
Sue Gardner: My Golden Retriever LOVES to play frisbee all year long!
Courtney McMurrin-Girard: All four of my dogs love to go swimming and play chuck- it. "Like" us on Facebook. You can find our page by searching "Cedar Valley Humane Society." Then stay tuned to see your responses in our E-news!

Volunteer Spotlight: Jessica and Dave Mosteller
Jessica and Dave Mosteller have been cleaning the Cedar Valley Humane Society's cat adoption condos at PetSmart since November. We count on them to take care of our in-store kitties once a week. The team volunteers an average of eight hours a month, which totals 42 hours combined since November.
Thank you, Jessica and Dave, for helping us keep our PetSmart cat adoption environment clean and inviting! |

Happy Tail: Brick (now Melvin) Gains Confidence
I wanted a companion for our cat, Lilly. Brick (now Melvin) was at the shelter for seven months, spending 70% of his life in a cage. In November, I walked by to look at another kitty, and Melvin reached out, grabbed my arm and my heart!
We took our time introducing Lilly to Melvin. (We never thought Lilly would stop hissing and growling at him through the spare door.) Now Melvin follows her around like a younger sibling admiring the oldest.
Lilly seems to think he is a nuisance at times as he likes to play and wrestle a lot. They look a lot alike, and we still mess up which one is monitoring birds in their cat tower or who is running through the house like a horse. Their tails are different enough to see at a distance, so we look to that to tell us who is responsible for making us laugh.
Melvin is extremely timid and gains confidence as time goes on. He still likes to reach out and grab me at mealtime, or if I come around the corner and he is on the dresser. He is unique in that, while timid, he will purr loudly as soon as you (slowly) near to pet him. We are eager to see how much his jitters decrease as he continues to gain confidence and realize he has a safe and loving forever home.
Andrea N.
Remember, YOU can send us your Happy Tail, too!

Notable Quote
A kitten is the most irresistible comedian in the world. Its wide-open eyes gleam with wonder and mirth. It darts madly at nothing at all, and then, as though suddenly checked in the pursuit, prances sideways on its hind legs with ridiculous agility and zeal.
