Antoinette
antoinette.cat
Antoinette is between eight and nine years old. She came to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in bad shape in early July. Her teeth were so rotted that our vet had to remove most of them. While in surgery, it was discovered that this innocent cat had BB pellets lodged in her skin in various places. She clearly endured a hard life before finding shelter with us. We hope she can find a happy home with people who will treat her well in her elder years. Meet this special girl today!

Greetings!

Did you know it costs about $5 to feed one dog for a day at the Cedar Valley Humane Society? This equals about one of your morning lattes. Take time this holiday season to help those in need and consider how much it would mean to a shelter pet to have a little extra this holiday season.

Thank You for a Wonderful 2010, Community Members!

The Cedar Valley Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to building healthy relationships between people and animals, and eliminating cruelty, abuse and overpopulation of animals through education, adoption services and inspiring compassion for all living things. We couldn't fulfill this mission without the support of community members like you. We were able to find new forever homes for nearly 900 animals this year. We serve both the homeless pets of Linn County and its residents with our vital services. Here's to an even more successful 2011!

Snow seems to be a love/hate relationship for pets. Do your pets love or hate it?

Elizabeth Carnicle: She loves it too much!
Haley Kneeland: LOVES the snow!
Shelley Johnson Gingerich: My Siberian Husky HATES it! She has no idea that she was born for this kind of weather.
Mallory Cole: they loved it this morning! hunter did his happy dance and dug in the garden. he triumphantly pranced back with some dead plants in his mouth. emme jumps around in the snow like a bunny. she looks white instead of black and had a santa beard at one point. they love snow, except for the day when it was in the negatives outside. i had to bribe them with treats to get them to go outside. :)
Sara Swender: Have a lab that hates it and a heeler who loves it.

Happy Tail: Oreo

Dear Cedar Valley Humane Society,

I just wanted to let all of you know what a great dog Oreo is. He loves my cats, his housebreaking is coming along, and he is simply a delight to have. He LOVES running through the grass at top speed.  He sleeps with dog biscuitme every night (under the covers, behind my knees).  My vet says she cannot believe he was a rescue from a puppy mill. She thinks he's nearly perfect! He received a clean bill of health with the exception a a minor ear infection which we are treating. I have renamed him Jackson, which he seems to like. Thank you so much for allowing him into my life. You people are the best!

Diane
