Featured Feline: Shadow

Shadow is a six-year-old Siamese cat who has found himself homeless after his elderly companion passed away a couple months ago. His sad story and his unique eyes will have you at "hello!" He is very shy at first--but will warm up to you with a little time. In no time, he'll be your very own lap cat for life. He is used to a home with few visitors and no other pets. He is front declawed. Can you give Shadow a new home in time for the holidays?

Compatible Canine: Jezebel
This young German Shepherd mix came to us as a stray last month. She is only around four months old--so still a young pup! Jezebel is extremely shy around people at first; we think she may have been a victim of abuse before finding her way to our safe haven. She does, however, completely blossom around other dogs! She would make a great companion to another dog and would do well in a family that can be patient with her as she continues to gain confidence. Jezebel has become a shelter favorite, and we know you will fall in love with her at first sight!

Greetings!
"It's the most wonderful time of the year" is a phrase often heard throughout the holiday season. It's wonderful for those of us who have families and warm homes. What about the rest of the community, like the homeless pets waiting for families to adopt them into forever homes? Help us help these pets have a wonderful time of the year, too. They deserve special treats and warm blankets just like the rest of us! Don't you agree?

Please Join Us for Our Annual "Home for Christmas" Holiday Open House!
To show our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, donors, volunteers and friends, we are hosting a special celebration. Please join us for refreshments as we showcase all of the progressive changes we've made in the shelter throughout the last year, as well as animals currently up for adoption at the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
This event is open to everyone in our community and we'd love to meet you. Come see our safe haven for the homeless pets of Linn County and find out if you'd like to join in our efforts in any capacity. We couldn't continue to serve the animals of Linn County without constant support from kind citizens in the area--and we want to recognize that! Thank you for your continued support!
Sunday, December 4th 12 pm- 4 pm No RSVP necessary See you there!

We Asked, You Answered!
What do you think of fur being "in" this season? Is faux fur okay?
Elizabeth Carnicle: I'll stick to no fur at all; people look ridiculous with fur around their face, let alone covered in it! LeAnn Hughes: ALL my outfits are covered in fur; kitty fur! :) Heidi Karr:Real fur is disgusting. Wanting people to think the faux fur you're wearing is real is also disgusting! Stephanie Filer: Real fur is disgusting, barbaric and unnecessary. Faux for is ok if it's really faux (the industry is flawed and allows real fur to be marked as faux if it's a certain % or less real) BUT I don't wear faux fur b/c it glorifies the "fashion" of the real thing. It's just too close for comfort. Darla Golden: The only fur I'll ever be wearing is what my 2 Yellow Labs shed....what is a lot sometimes - especially when I'm wearing dark clothes!

Happy Tail: Sugar
Dear Cedar Valley Humane Society,

We adopted Sugar four weeks ago, and wanted to let you know she has become a "Lynch" very quickly. She loves exploring our 3 acres, but always knows exactly where her home is -- even from the first day - she never strays very far. She is all you said about her and more -- cuddly, friendly, independent, and gets along well with our other pets: Sherlock, Olivia, and Miko. The picture shows her sleeping with Sherlock -- as you can see, he puts up with her, even though he looks pretty long-suffering in the picture. She has found her favorite sleeping spot - on the foot of the bed on a velour blanket. Thank you so much for letting us adopt her -- she is a precious member of our family!
Becki Lynch
Remember, YOU can send us your happy tail, too! |
