Meowers and Jafarmeowers
Meowers and Jafar are new kennel-mates here at the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Meowers is a four year old neutered male. He is very affectionate and likes to make you laugh by eating and drinking with his paws. Jafar lives for other cats and spends all day playing with Meowers. Jafar is between 1 and 2 years old and came to us a stray off the streets. These two are great buddies and would make your home complete just in time for the holidays!

This young chocolate lab is about 1 year old we suspect. He was a stray who came to us with a bad ear infection and cigarette burns on his head. Although he had a tough time before he arrived at our shelter, he seems to hold no grudges. He's one of the happiest dogs we've seen and loves to gallop around the courtyard like a pony! Of course, he always needs something to carry around in his mouth, though! Whether it's a frisbee, ball or rope toy--he loves it all! This happy, go-lucky boy is easy to please and would be a wonderful family companion! He's GREAT with kids and is learning good manners very quickly!

Best Black Friday Deal: Black Cat Society Launch!
  Black kitties

Did you know .....

that black dogs and cats are generally the last to be adopted in shelters and are given up to  shelters by their owners in much larger numbers?

Those involved in animal welfare have dubbed this phenomena "Black Dog and Cat Syndrome." No one knows why Black Dog and Cat Syndrome exists for sure, but at the Cedar Valley Humane Society we wanted to do something to help bring light to the "dark" truth.

After the successful launch of our Black Dog Society, we want to give our sweet cats the attention they deserve, too! Cedar Valley Humane Society is  launching our very own "Black Cat Society" targeted at pet owners who have cats with 50% or more black fur.  If you adopt a cat with 50% or more black fur from the Cedar Valley Humane Society, the first year of membership is on us! Don't worry, anyone with a black cat can join for $25, too.

Membership in the Black Cat Society includes:

blackcat

*Annual event exclusively for all black cats and owners of black cats

*FREE sitting (value of $75) from Ambroja Pet Photography for your black cat

*Welcome goody bag filled with treats especially for your lovable black cat

* Also, most importantly, the sense of pride in knowing you are   helping educate the community about Black Dog and Cat Syndrome and giving black cats the love and attention they deserve!

Happy Thanksgiving week! What is it about your pet you're thankful for?

Nancy Kay Frank: for their licks & keeping me warm at night.
Steve Klemzak: I am very thankful for my dog. She's one of the greatest dogs ever. I am very proud to say that I was able to rescue her from a shelter.
Lisa Bennett Lyman: I have the cutest mutt who makes me laugh constantly.
Amber Haufle: I am thankful for both times my dog has saved my life...literally! I am also thankful for the wonderful disposition he has with the foster children I bring into my home.
Leora Mikesell: I am thankful when she curls in my lap. Petting her is soorthing after a stressful day.
LeAnn Hughes: All my cats love me no matter what my hair looks like or if I have make-up on or if I smell good or bad or if I'm having a good/bad day, they just unconditionally accept me and I love them all.
Mumsy Baker: I'm so blessed by their three very different personalities and the unconditional love that goes both ways. They keep me laughing and real.

Happy Tail: Jax

Dear Cedar Valley Humane Society,

We adopted Jax (formerly known as Chester) in October. Thank you for allowing us to take him home! He is such a good and sweet little boy! H e is a wonderful snuggler and loves to keep us company. He will take naps on the couch - laying upside down (see picture). He likes his belly to happytail.jaxbe rubbed! (He sleeps right next to my head during the night).

Our daughters love playing with him; he is so very funny!  He is getting to know our other kitty, Jinx and our dog, Scooby. He loves to "tease" Jinx; he will follow her around and get her tail. He also likes to "attack" Scooby's paws. They are already getting to be good buddies in the three short weeks we have had him!

He absolutely adds joy to our lives every day! Thank you so much for all you do!

Sincerely,

Stefanie, Eric, Ali, and Julia Robinson

Remember, YOU can send us your happy tail, too!
