Call to Action: Help Us Clean Up!cleaning supplies
On Saturday, July 10th a group of dedicated staff and volunteers will join together to clean one of the Cedar Valley Humane Society's houses on our property. We hope to clean and eventually remodel the home so that it can be used to expand our services to the community in the future. If you are moved to join in on our crusade to make a better shelter for Linn County animals, please contact Wendy and she will get you more information on this big day.

We also need a variety of supplies to aid in our efforts. If you can donate or lend us any of the following, please do so at 7411 Mt. Vernon Rd. SE. Thank you!

Supplies: buckets, dolly, floor grates, rubber gloves, light covers, outlet covers, masks, paint, paint peelers, paint rollers, power washer, rags, sander, sponges, step ladders, bleach, spray bottles, brooms, dust pans, tools (general), shop vac, use of pick up truck. Thank you!

Program Launch: Black Dog Society
AshtonIn our Last issue we highlighted Black Dog and Cat Syndrome, defined as "the low adoption and high owner surrender rate of black dogs and cats in shelters." We can't pinpoint why Black Dog and Cat Syndrome exists for sure, but at the Cedar Valley Humane Society we wanted to do something to help bring light to the "dark" truth.

Cedar Valley Humane Society is  launching our very own "Black Dog Society" targeted at pet owners who have dogs with 50% or more black fur. If you adopt a dog with 50% or more black fur from the Cedar Valley Humane Society, the first year of membership is on us! Anyone with a black dog can join for $25, too!

Membership in the Black Dog Society includes:
*Annual event exclusively for Black Dog Society members
*FREE sitting (value of $75) from Ambroja Pet Photography for your black dog
*Welcome goody bag filled with treats especially for your lovable black canine
*Sense of pride in knowing you are helping educate the community about Black Dog and Cat Syndrome and giving black dogs the love and attention they deserve

Sign up today! Also, keep your eye out for our Black Cat Society to debut soon!

hand and pawVolunteer Spotlight: Debbie Pollett
Debbie Pollett joined the Cedar Valley Humane Society volunteer program in April and has already done a tremendous job! Debbie is at the shelter every Saturday and Sunday morning to help clean the cat cages before opening to the public. She always stays until the work is done and helps out in other areas, as needed.  Debbie also assisted Cedar Valley Humane Society at Daniel Arthur's "Until They All Find a Home" event and Uptown Friday Night guest pouring. Thank you Debbie for all of your hard work! If you want to volunteer, just ask us how!
Happy Tail
Tiny the bunny fTiny the Bunny Happy Tailound her forever home with Meredith in April. Says Meredith of Tiny, "She is doing great. She enjoys racing around my living and dining area of my apartment. She now hops up onto the couch with or without me there. She loves trying to chew on my jeans or go where she isn't supposed to go (very determined bunny). She also enjoys making a mess out of her cage, but is happy to hop back into it after I've cleaned it.  I have attached a picture of her out relaxing in my apartment.  She even enjoyed a week at my moms with her two cats when the air conditioning in my apartment went out just in time for the 1st round of hot and humid weather." Thanks for sharing your happy tail with us, Meredith! We're glad to know you and Tiny are doing well together! Remember, YOU can send us your happy tail, too!
