We have a whole litter of kittens! Named after the "Rugrats" characters from Nickelodeon's cartoon, they are every bit as playful as the original kiddos! We have all different colors of the sweet kittens and they are all waiting patiently at the shelter to be adopted into your loving homes.

"Until They All Find a Home" Tasting Event Raises over $8,000 for the Animals!

Daniel Arthurs event

Nearly 200 animal-loving community members attended our first tasting event at Daniel Arthur's last week. This generous group of people donated a total of over $8,000 in ticket sales, silent auction proceeds, matching gifts from their companies and donations.
Beer, wine and appetizers were served and live music was played during the event. Door prize winners were announced periodically through the night and the silent auction lasted until the close of the event. Dogs and cats were available for meet and greet on the patio all night and most of them found their forever homes!

Be sure to keep your pets away from the following harmful food substances: alcoholic beverages, avocado, chocolate (all forms), coffee (all forms), fatty foods, garlic, macadamia nuts, moldy or spoiled foods, onions, onion powder, products sweetened with xylitol, raisins and grapes, salt, and yeast dough.

Other hazards include: toads, insects, spiders, snakes, scorpions, Blue-green algae in ponds, Citronella candles, Cocoa mulch, Compost piles, Fertilizers, Fly baits containing methomyl, Outdoor plants and plant bulbs, Slug and snail baits containing metaldehyde, Swimming pool treatment supplies.

If your pet consumes a substance that you think might be toxic, call your veterinarian, even if you do not notice any adverse effects. Volunteer Spotlight: Robert Chiusano
robert chiusanoRobert Chiusano has been a volunteer for the Cedar Valley Humane Society for only a few months, but he has taken to jumping right in when there is help needed. His favorite way to volunteer is going to events and talking to the community about the great services the Cedar Valley Humane Society is providing. He likes to talk to new pet owner's about their specific animals as well, as he has experience training his own two large breed dogs. He has always been a dog lover, and now through working with us here at the shelter, he is beginning to be a cat lover, too! Thanks for all you do, Robert!

Happy Tail
The Jackson'shappy tail buddy adopted Buddy at the end of January. "Buddy has taught us so much about patience and perseverance as well as the joys of spending time outside and not being a couch potato!" They told us. "He's always been loving and well behaved and we're thankful that his previous owners did the right thing in bringing him in when they could no longer care for him," they added.  He has also learned new tricks and knows how to shake, speak, stay, high-five, get his toys on command and lay down. The progress he's made since finding his forever home is wonderful and his new owners are very proud to have him as their own.
