HOUSTON,TEXAS (SEPTEMBER 10,2009) 4 time Grammy winning Latin artist Oscar De La Rosa and La Mafia have been chosen as this year's Grand Marshals for the Houston 41st Fiestas Patrias Parade. "I am very proud to be Grand Marshal of a parade I used to watch as a kid on the streets of downtown Houston" said Oscar De La Rosa lead vocalist of the Houston based La Mafia.
The parade is also a kickoff to the upcoming celebration in 2010 for La Mafia who will be celebrating 30 years as a group. The band was kicked off in 1980 by De La Rosa and Armando Lichtenberger Jr (keyboardist/accordionist/producer) . "La Mafia has been proud to call Houston home throughout our career" commented De La Rosa. La Mafia has headlined the Houston Rodeo 3 times throughout their career (1993,1996,1998) and most recently was inducted into the City of Houston Wall of Fame at the George R Brown Convention Center along with a Star of Fame at the Houston Hard Rock Café alongside Houston's ZZTop.
