Witchdoctor's children watch
Only God can change a nation |

July 2009
Dear friend,
Times are tough. Yvonne's sister in California called and told her, "There are a lot of people out of work. California is 11.5% unemployment!" In Haiti every mission we know is feeling a double digit reduction from their Stateside and Canadian supporters. We feel it too, but God is faithful! |
Make your request
known to God
Prayer and fasting have been a way of life for us since we came to Haiti thirty-four years ago. On the first of 2009, Yvonne and I received an estimate for $55,000.00 to complete the plumbing and electrical on the mission home. We did not have that kind of money but we made our requests known to Jehovah Jireh. As you may know this construction has gone on since 1994; it is a pay as we go project. |
He hears our cry and makes a way
A few months later old friends from Mt. Zion Church, Utica, NY expressed their desire to help us. Today they are filling a Sea Land container with baby food and diapers for two children's homes and our electrical and plumbing supplies. Our cost for the building supplies is $19,000.00. Less than half of the local price but still a faith challenging amount; please prayerfully consider what you can give to this. And pray with us for volunteer skilled labor to help us finish this house. |
Upon this Rock Two years ago Yvonne and I felt burdened to start an English speaking service in our home. Soon a nearby children's home with American and Canadian volunteers started coming. On Wednesday nights we go to their mission, eat dinner and then teach mid week bible study. These Christian volunteers are caregivers to hundreds of Haitian orphans. We are privileged to encourage them with the bread of life. Last week two volunteers from God's Littlest Angels came forward to lead songs and several visitors added to our humble body of believers. Our home church is growing and needs more seating, a lectern, hymnals and communion service. Again your prayers and help are needed. |
Haiti is no longer dangerous
In 2005 the United Nations branded Haiti the most dangerous place in the world with more kidnappings than Columbia. Cocaine dealers landed planes and boats with impunity. Car jackings and home invasions became common place. We put our faces to the floor everyday in prayer for the protection of our children and grandchildren. By December God sent an extraordinary woman, Anne Marie Casella, as US Embassy Chief of American Citizen Services. Remarkably Anne Marie had never dealt with a kidnapping, over the next three years she handled an unprecedented 130 US citizen kidnappings in Haiti. | |

| Miracle working Father works miracles in Haiti |
Last month Yvonne and I sat in awe as Anne Marie was commended by the Haitian National Police, the FBI and the US Embassy warden system. Kidnapping in Haiti all but vanished as Anne Marie personally commandeered the training of local law enforcement. We realized God had sovereignly, supernaturally answered our desperate prayers by sending Ms. Casella during Haiti's most dangerous moment. |

| Impacting Haiti with Christian TV |
| Recently a stern witchdoctor's face softened as he recognized me, "Are you the one on TV? My children watch your show!" The week prior a school bus of teenage girls chanted, "Fre Joel! Fre Joel!" as the class on a field trip spotted me coming out of a market. La Bonne Nouvelle, our Creole Christian television show is impacting Haiti. Your prayers and monthly support make this evangelism possible. | |
