It's Friday again and we're Garage Sale-ing here!!

What are YOU doing?
My Website

I'm kind of excited...I've been making changes to my website.  I am not changing my business model, but in an effort to stay connected to my clientele in Oregon, Washington and Boston, I'm adding some interesting things to the site.  In preparation, the 'site is readying for it's new and improved abilities.  For now?  It has just changed aesthetically.  Go take a look and let me know what you think!

Greetings!

What are YOU doing for the weekend?  I am having a garage sale!!  WITHOUT the hubby's help.  Why?  Because years ago someone wanted to bargain a camera down from .$50 to $.25.  "Never again!!" he said.  I get it.  But really, we've been in the new house for six months and I have TONS of stuff to off-load!  My goal?  Make enough to cover the cost of a round dining table...which, after six months...is what I have determined my new dining room needs.

WHY am I telling you this?  Sometimes the pieces we own (and love) just don't work with our space.  In my case, the new house simply doesn't accomodate the large, traditional Duncan Phyfe table I have.  It's wonderful and seats up to fourteen, but simply  doesn't fit.  My goal?  A round dining table with leaves that will expand to accomodate about 10 instead of 14.  Close enough!  Open up the game table, bring in the folding chairs and I'm golden!

This brings me to the feeling that if you're in the mood to update and/or make changes to YOUR place, you may need a good purge to get you started.  Cleaning house/purging/re-organizing/de-cluttering is truly the first step to your design plan.  This comes AFTER you make your plan!  You don't want to get rid of something that might work in another space, but if it absolutely doesn't have a home, it may be time to let it go.

For us, we have an English Side Board that was ideal in our first two homes.   When we purchased it, there was a sweet postcard tucked in the back of a drawer that had been sent from Scotland to England.   It was okay in our last home, but there isn't a place for it here.  I've tried it EVERYWHERE.  I have considered painting, I've considered re-purposing.  We (the hubby and I) came to mutual agreement that we would let it go.  Sad, but sadder to have something we purchased together languish in the garage, serving no purpose and gathering dust.  I hope it finds a new perfect home!  (we are keeping the postcard and framing it!).

Do you have pieces like this?  Here's a couple of ideas for repurposing some furniture pieces.  I really liked this first one.  I think LOTS of people have armoires purchased to accomodate the behemouth televison sets.  What to do with them NOW that we have flat screens one the wall.  Here are a few options:

Sewing not your thing, but entertaining is?  Here's the armoire as a bar.  How fun is THAT?Armoire to Bar

I loved this idea...an old favorite sweater into a pillow.  I actually have this in the "to-do" pile (do you have one these???  Good grief. )
sweet pink remade pillow

I have a great white lambswool sweater my sweetie gave me years ago. Beautiful Ivory color.  Problem?   Not only is the style a little dated, it's a bit itchy!!  Not good.  So??  It's going to be a swanky pillow for the new master bedroom.  The photo here is not mine, but the idea is the same.

Suitcase to chair
Okay...this one is almost silly, but I had to include it!!  Made me smile.

Have a lovely weekend!
