FINAL REHEARSALS UNDERWAY;
STAGE HELP NEEDED
Final work is being done this week and Monday of next week to prepare for the show, Christ-myth Busters, being performed by fifth- through eighth-grade students on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 7.
On Tuesday of this week, all students in the performance will run through a dress rehearsal from 2 to 4 p.m. Boys should wear black pants, black shoes and a red, forest green or white long- or short-sleeved, button-down shirt. Girls should wear a black skirt with tights or black pants, black shoes and a red, white or forest green long- or short-sleeved blouse.
Also in preparation for next week's performances, help is needed this Friday at 2:30 p.m. to reset the chancel for week-end services, on Sunday at noon to clear the chancel for the show and on Wednesday, Dec. 7, after the show to remove the risers and reset the chancel. If you can help during these times, e-mail Guy Kramer by clicking here.

EARLY DISMISSAL ON TUESDAY
All classes will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday so that teachers may attend a faculty meeting. FLASH after-school care will be available free of charge until 3 p.m. Check the calendar above for after-school classes in session on that day.
|
HONOR ROLL CHAPEL ON WEDNESDAY
A total of 53 students in fifth- through eighth-grades will be recognized at the quarterly Honor Roll Chapel on Wednesday. Of the more than 50 students achieving honor roll status for their excellent grades during the first quarter, 12 students in seventh and eighth grades will be honored for making the Principal's Honor Roll by achieving a GPA of at least 3.8.
|
PAJAMA & TEDDY BEAR DAY
The kids can roll right out of bed and on their way to school in their PJs on Friday. They may also bring along a friend if they like, as long as it is a teddy bear or other favorite stuffed animal.
Make sure those jammies still comply with the school dress code, though. (If in doubt, check your copy of the 2011-2012 Parent Answer Book.)

BABYSITTING NIGHT ON FRIDAY
Take advantage of some low-cost, high-fun child-care on Friday night at the 8th Grade Babysitting Night in Fellowship Hall from 6 to 9:30 p.m. For just $20 per child ($15 for each additional child from the same family), the eighth-graders and their adult chaperones will provide playtime, games, crafts, dinner and a movie for kids age two and up. Sign up in the school office by e-mail by clicking here.
And, make a note on the calendar, for some extra kid-free time to get all your holiday preparations done with a second babysitting event this month on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
|
STUDENTS SING IN WORSHIP ON SUNDAY
This coming Sunday's worship services at First Lutheran will feature special musical guests: the students of the fifth-grade and kindergarten classes at FLS. The students have been working on songs to present as part of the worship services in the First Lutheran sanctuary. The fifth-graders will sing at the 8:30 a.m. service; the kindergarteners will perform at the 10:30 a.m. gathering.

HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP NEXT WEEK Students will be coming home on Monday with their shopping envelopes for the Holiday Gift Shop next week. Parents should help students fill out the list of special people for whom they will be selecting gifts and return the envelope and money to school with the child. Each child will do his or her shopping for family members with classmates at the holiday gift shop set up in Fellowship Hall next week. Adult volunteers will also be on hand to help children select their gifts. To help or for more information, contact Angelique Smith by clicking here. |
CHRISTMAS GRAMS ON SALE STARTING MONDAY
LEAD student council members will be selling Christmas Grams beginning next Monday near the water machine before and after school through Dec. 15. One dollar buys you a holiday gram written with your personalized message delivered with a candy cane to the student, teacher or other person of your choice on the FLCS campus on Dec. 16. Christmas grams are a great way for students, parents and staff to let their special people at FLCS know they are thinking of them this holiday season.

GIFT WRAP QUESTIONS?
Gift wrap orders were delivered to school the week before Thanksgiving break, but if you have questions or concerns with your order, try first calling the Charleston Wraps customer service phone number on the package. If your concern is not resolved after calling Charleston, let a member of the FLS PTF know.
