Bodypeace Classes

Keeping with this month's theme, I'd like to introduce you to Bodypeace Classes.

Classes consist of breathwork, free movement to music, partnered stretching, and a variety of other techniques that connect the mind and body.  Participants will notice a release of tension in the muscles and a renewal of energy as more oxygen is carried through the system.  Founder of Bodypeace, Dawn Lipinski, explains, "These activities bring awareness to your personal sense of physical boundaries and help you notice if you focus more on input or output.  You will become mindful of how you hold yourself in the world and feel a sense of Mind/Bodypeace."

These classes are fun and transformative!  Feel stress release and energy increase.

December Schedule:
Tuesdays - 9:30-10:30am &
Thursdays - 7:30-8:30pm
at Ocean Spirit Yoga
147 Market St., Suite C

Greetings!

Ahh...the hustle and bustle of the holidays.  It seems there's always one more thing to do...someone to shop for, a gift to wrap, something to bake, or another card to send.  Sound familiar?  Or maybe it feels like there's one more family member you don't want to see, one more dollar you can't afford to spend, and one more television show you'd rather be watching to avoid the whole season.  Whew!

And so, even as I write this, I am reminded of how important it is to take a moment and breathe.

Tuning in and being mindful helps me to "reset."  I come back from whatever "doing" mode I might be in and simply show up.  This can be done with simple breaths, helping me to ground and "be in the moment."

Conscious breath reminds the mind and body that they are not separate from each other.  This connection is constant, and awareness of it creates space for a moment of personal presence.

This edition of The Consciousness Collaborative Update is devoted to creating space for yourself on a moment to moment basis.  Awareness of even a few of the moments of each day...as they are happening...is such a gift!  For the 2008 holiday season, I encourage you to allow a few minutes each day to simply notice the moment - and breathe into it.  By giving to yourself in this way, you share the best part of you with the people you love most.  The gift of presence instead of presents!

Wishing you peace and good health.

Warm regards,

Joanne Lutz

The What's Next?! Workshop provides a forum for you to begin to discover and take action on What's Next?! for you in your life.  At times we can't see where it is we want to go, and at others we get "stuck" trying to make a very clear vision into reality.  Whether at the beginning searching stages or at the cusp of a major change, the capability and knowledge needed to take that next step is inherently in you.

Join us for a journey of exploration.  Through guided exercises, discussion, active meditations, emotional release work, and journaling, this progressive six-day workshop (over the course of six months) introduces you to concrete methods to connect to that knowledge and trust yourself to take action.  You may discover who you've always been, and the path that is waiting for you to begin.  Take this opportunity to be the architect of What's Next?! in your life, with clarity, compassion, and connection.*  You may be more skilled than you believe!

Meditation of the Month - Mindful Breath - 4-4-8
gold candles
This is a simple way to connect your mind and body.  The bonus: you can do this anywhere at anytime!  Allow yourself to practice this entire breathing series three or four times a day for 30 days for a more permanent shift in your mindful awareness.

~ Wherever you are, take a deep breath in, filling the belly first and then let the air fill up the chest, to the count of four....1...2...3...4
.  With every in breath you are taking in life's nourishment.

~ Hold this breath for a count of four...1...2...3...4.
Is there anything else you may be holding that you might want to let go of?

~ Release this breath to the count of eight, completely emptying your chest and belly...1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8
.  The slow, gentle release of the breath is the key to this meditation.  Allowing anything that might be held in your body to let go with the exhale.

~ Gently repeat the entire cycle three times in a row - remaining conscious of each stage of the breath.

Remember this is your gift to yourself.  A way to come back to you in any moment - you deserve it!
