Therapeutic Foster Care

ReachingHands

Every year 13,129 children spend at least one day in the Oregon foster care system. (Child Welfare Data Book, March 2010) Therapeutic Foster Care was developed at Morrison in 1984 to provide specially trained foster families for youth who have suffered severe physical, sexual and/or emotional trauma. Our families go through an extensive training and certification process and regularly update their education. Morrison foster families also receive 24 hour a day crisis and support assistance. Foster families are compensated for their time and dedication through monthly tax free stipends. The Therapeutic Foster Care community supports each other.

Foster parents are...

Married, single or partnered.

Are at least 25 years old.

Have a separate bedroom for a youth.

Have some source of income.

If you are interested in learning more about Therapeutic Foster Care please contact Monica Ford at (503) 736-6500 or monica.ford@morrisonkids.org.

Foster Family Care Network

The Foster Family Care Network recently awarded Morrison $4000 to provide support to Morrison foster children in the areas of summer camps, teen items, medical/dental needs and family support. The Foster Family Care Network is a partnership between Morrison and Albertina Kerr Center. We work together to recruit, train and support foster families who care for the children and teens in our treatment programs.

Foster Parent Recognition Dinner

On May 9, 2011, we hosted our 17th Annual Foster Parent Recognition Dinner honoring our 63 families in our foster care programs. The theme of the evening was Mardi Gras featuring a delectable Cajun feast. Over $3,000 in donated prizes were won by our foster families throughout the evening. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to our dedicated foster families!
