My Personal Invitation to You and Your Prayer Chaplains
Journey of Connections - this November
Dear Friends,
When the Prayer Chaplain Program first came through me in 1992, I began a journey of creation and discovery in partnership with Spirit. I did not get a roadmap which gave me every step of the process, but I always received guidance about the next step. My job was to be willing to receive the guidance and take that next step - to say "Yes". And I can also tell you that I did not receive a vision that defined the fullness of the Program as it is expressed today.
I am humbled and in awe by YOU -for it is through your willingness to also take your next step into this sacred service that this Program has become what it is today and that it blesses so many ministries across the country. In fact, since Light & Love Ministries began the Trainers Workshops, we have trained a total of 1,332 people in 449 ministries in 57 states and countries and in 20 ministries outside of Unity. Can you just imagine how many Prayer Chaplains have been trained as a result of this activity. THANK YOU GOD!
There is a season and a natural evolution to all things. The Light & Love Ministries team is hard at work taking it's next step to evolve so that we can continue to support you. We will complete our 2010 year by hosting a Prayer Chaplain and Prayer Chaplain Trainers Conference - "A Journey of Connections" - November 11 - 13 - in Tempe, Arizona. This Conference is for you! In November, we will come together to celebrate our commitment to this sacred service, to each other, and to strengthen our ability to be in service to others. We have created a program that will not only inspire and uplift but that will assist you in moving to the next level. It's time to once again say "Yes"!
At the Conference, we will also be launching many of our new initiatives for the 2011 year - our calendar of Trainers Workshops offered regionally across the country, our very robust product line designed to enhance your trainings and Programs, a newly enhanced and revised Trainers Guide including information on Program adaptations for small ministries, Monthly Meetings for Trainers through web conferencing, and training modules on Tips for Trainers and Leadership.

When I look in the mirror, what do I see?

I have come to believe that self-reflection can be our most powerful tool for evolving as a leader and as a human being. The ability to honestly - without shame or blame - look at our selves and how we "show up" leads the way to change. I have also discovered that the more we do it, the easier it gets.
Professional and Olympic athletes show us the way to create a tool for ourselves. They view the tapes of their games, matches, races, etc., to critique their technique and improve their performance. We too can utilize this tool - it's called Gamefilming - Performance Journaling. The gist of the tool is to reflect on a situation that you didn't handle so well or did handle particularly well and do a mental replay while capturing information that will help you identify patterns and visualize your desired outcome. Here are the steps.
Mental Replay
- Situation - Describe what happened.
- Results - Describe the results, consequences, implications.
Reflections
- My Thoughts - What was I thinking?
- By Behavior - What I did and said.
- My Inner State - What I was feeling (angry, defensive, embarrassed, irritated, In flow, inspired, open, etc.)?
- My Mindset - What Drama Triangle or Empowerment Dynamic mode am I in (Rescuer, Victim, Persecutor or Coach, Challenger, Creator)?
Self-Authoring
- Key Insights - Describe triggers, habits, patterns
- Desired Outcome - What do I really want?
- Action - My next step is....Next time I will....
So, practice makes performance. I invite you to create a worksheet for yourself that you can carry with you and Gamefilm at least once a day. You will be amazed at the results. As we begin to identify patterns and particularly our feelings at our most triggered moments and create a vision for how we want to be - we begin to gain the ability to interrupt those triggered moments and reset our behavior immediately. The immediate part takes time - but it is a worthwhile goal - because it will result in our being in a happier more peaceful state and will improve our relationships and interactions with others.
