Diversions
| |
At the turn of the 21st Century, local financial consultant Charles Bohoskey challenged the Yakima Valley Museum and the Yakima Symphony Orchestra to develop a casual evening program that would unite the skills of the two organizations. The result was Drawing Room Diversions, which combined historical and cultural information provided by the Museum with a variety of related classical and popular music selected by the Symphony.
Each cabaret-style evening included dinner and beverages, followed by a musical program planned by Museum Director John Baule and Symphony Music Director Brooke Creswell. Brooke retired in the spring of 2010. The new Symphony Music Director, Lawrence Golan, was eager to continue the tradition of Drawing Room Diversions and use his extensive knowledge and skills to help create a new era of what will now be called simply Diversions. The format will remain the same, but the programs will tie more closely to upcoming Symphony concerts while retaining the quirky flavor that have made the evenings such great fun.
We are pleased to announce the 2011 schedule and look forward to welcoming you to our 12th season. For more information, visit our website.
