The Women's Votes, Women's Voices
exhibit opens tonight, February 19. Organized by the Washington Women's History Consortium under the
auspices of the Washington State History Museum and the Northwest Museum of
Arts & Culture, this exhibit celebrates 100 years of women's suffrage in the State of Washington.
Among the artifacts on display are famed suffragist Susan
B. Anthony's dress, cloak, glasses, inkwell, and a rare copy of the
Declaration of Sentiments (the original manifest of women's rights). Historic photos, ephemera, and artifacts
from the Washington State Historical Society and numerous other Washington State
organizations will also be on display.
The opening reception will begin at 5:30, followed by a showing of the film Iron Jawed Angels starring Hillary Swank and Anjelica Huston. This event is free and open to the public. For a full schedule of events, see Women's Votes, Women's Voices.
