The artifacts have arrived!
The Women's Votes, Women's Voices
exhibit, organized by the Washington Women's History Consortium under the
auspices of the Washington State History Museum and the Northwest Museum of
Arts & Culture, has arrived at the Yakima Valley Museum. Over the next few weeks we will be installing this exhibit in the special exhibition galleries.
Among the artifacts that will be on display are famed suffragette Susan
B. Anthony's dress, cloak, glasses, inkwell, diary, and a rare copy of the
Declaration of Sentiments (the original manifest of women's rights). Historic photos, ephemera, and artifacts
from the Washington State Historical Society and numerous other Washington State
organizations will also be on display.
The opening reception, which includes a showing of the film Iron Jawed Angels starring Hillary Swank and Anjelica Huston, will be held on February 19, starting at 5:30.

Visitor Theater
|
|
Visitors to the Yakima Valley Museum can now enjoy the new Visitor Theatre located in the "North Tower." This new area features a large-screen television which shows eight films from the museum's digital archives.
These films include A Land Called Yakima, produced around 1960; The Great Bank Robbery, a Yakima Little Theater Project filmed in 1950, and the Yakima Fire Department demonstrating at a fire convention in the 1930s.
Come in, relax, and enjoy a glimpse into the past.
