The Botany of Desire
Botany of Desire KYVE - Tonight
October 28, 2009
9PM

Now that we have over 10,000 photographic images on line at yakimamemory.org, and have digitized over 1800 apple labels, our collections are much more accessible to authors and filmmakers.  In fact, tonight on KYVE, an apple label from our collection is shown in the new film The Botany of Desire.

The Botany of Desire brings Michael Pollan's best-selling book of the same name to television, showing how human desires are an essential, intricate part of natural history. The program explores the natural history of four plants -- the apple, the tulip, marijuana and the potato -- and the corresponding human desires -- sweetness, beauty, intoxication and controlling nature -- that link their destinies to our own.

The book is available now in the Museum Store, and the video will be available soon.
